Any hopes of catching the moron in the pickup?:banghead3: We're hitting 60 K winds and windchills of -45C here. Yuk. Drifting snow across the streets, and like this most of the week. It'll warm up to -18C on Thursday. This is January weather. I came up with a theory about this crazy weather. They found huge methane deposits up in our North Sea shores, trapped in the ice flows and glaciers. When Mother Nature gets upset, She hauls out her little chemistry set to get things balanced off. Well the jump from Methane to another temperature storage compound like Freon or that other stuff only requires a bit of twist of CO2. Wouldn't you know it, there's the Alberta Tarsands just gushing CO2 out like Jazz in New Orleans. My theory falls apart though when it comes to explaining the High Pressure from the North and the Low Pressure from the Southwest. Always thought that hot air would carry the day. It's friggin' COLD! But the car starts nice.
Cold is right, but it was like this at this time last year as well. I remember it well, because I did the same gig last year and I had to haul our gear around...and it was freakin' cold then too. And wouldn't you know it, the heater blower died on the Topaz last night. Phooey! I think it's just the switch, but now there's no defroster either!
Yeah, I remember dropping the I6 into my Squire on December 18, 2006 and it was warmer than this. But 2007 was colder. I've got a good In-Car heater if you want to borrow it.
We got snow last week and traffic has been a nightmare! No one predicted it as well, so snow crews were not prepared. 1 hour commutes took some people between 3-5 hours!
And no snow-ho-ho tires in the rest of the country. Did you see that news item that Michelin closed down its Quebec tire plant for most of January? Too many snowjobs. The tire companies based their estimates on 2.5 million snow tires, for 2 wheels only, not 4, and not 5 million cars in snowy regions.
I've heard that Wisconsin really gets big snowfalls in one dump. Is that right? I drove through to International Falls in a December snowstorm in my new '81 Farimont Wagon, and they had a good 15 inch dump.
Yeah, we've had some crazy weather. We had the worst winter on record last year, and I was driving an 03 Crown Vic Interceptor. Spent more time in the ditch than on the road. We were getting 15" dumps every week of snow. This summer we had the flooding, they were trying to evacuate the town (we refused to leave) I had friends staying here because the national guard closed my road off, and I was staying at friends houses when the water was too high to get to my house. I had water on my floorboards in the crown vic. The military ducks were down here evacuating people. I had to prove to the National Guard that I lived where I said I lived.
