When I turn on my wipers on my '94 Century wagon the washer also turns on and neither will shut off when I turn the switches to the off position. If I turn the the car off and turn it back on they'll stop (with the switches in the off position, of course) as normal right away. By "as normal" I mean the wipers don't just stay where they were on the windshield when I shut off the car, they reset to the fully down position. I figured it was a bad switch so I changed the whole lever (which is also the turn signal) but it didn't help. Any ideas or advice? Thanks, Mike.

Did you check the fuse panel? I think some of the newer cars have the wiper motors on relays in the fuse panel. Maybe something could be going on there? Haven't had much experience in this area, but I would start there if it was me. Good luck.

Your problem is in the parking mechanism of the wiper motor. They can be rebuilt, but it takes some skill and knowledge to repair them so they work after you put them back together. I would find one in a junk yard, and swap it out. I know that A - 1 Cardone does sell rebuilt ones, but I don't know how good the quality is. If your car has the "mist" feature, then you need to transfer that part to the new motor, and use the old motor plastic cover.

    I agree with Junk.
I had similar issues on my Bonneville. Fixed it by installing a rebuilt unit.
