Just wanted to say Hello. I've just recently happened upon this site and am pleased to be able to share my love for the Wagon with Ya'll! I have a 1964 Plymouth Fury Station Wagon. My Grandfather purchased it new in 65. It was the car my dad rode in as a kid. In 1987 my parents bought it from Grandpa and it became the car I rode in as a kid. When I was in High school I started driving it as my parents had bought a van for the family hauler. In 2000 I graduated from High School and to my surprise Mom and Dad gave it to me as a graduation gift. I now have a 10 month old son, and though it won't be daily transportation, it will be the car he rides in as a kid.
Wow! neat story. I think you're like the 4th or 5th member with a wagon passed on in the family. Welcome aboard.
What a great story! And a great wagon that takes a licking and keeps on ticking through FOUR GENERATIONS! KEEP that car!! OH....and welcome to the wagon train, Orth!
OK, Dug around and could only come up with three pics as of right now. (I know there is one from when the car was new and dad and all of his brothers and sisters are standing in front of it. Gotta keep looking) First one: Taken in 1989,this is me (In the fire truck) some of my brothers and sisters and cousins. This was about a year and a half after we bought it from Grandpa. I look at this photo and am shocked at how nice the Plymouth looks. Second one: This was actually before I got my license. I was (OK, still am) really into the 60's, the Beatles, turtlenecks & Bellbottoms (not so much the bellbottoms anymore) *those are the original 63 Washington plates also. Third one: This is my senior portrait. The Fury had basically become part of my identity. It still is. I love that thing! More pics over at Mom and Dads I'm sure, just gotta go searching. Enjoy!
Great family shots! And the car too! Here's some pics you might want to show your folks. There's 81 pages! Long trip down memory lane... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Number=338226&page=1
Great pics! It's really something how a car becomes part of your identity ain't it? Love the first pic, Americana!
I checked out that link. Holy Cow! There are some amazing photos on there. Trip down memory lane is right and I wasn't even alive when most of those were taken. Love it! Thanks Stormin' Norman
