Hi, I have been obsessed with 80's station wagons since my family had one as a kid. They are iconic and lend themselves to good family memories. They are American. They make a statement of being settled and a sense of being grounded. I also need a vehicle I can fit my family and my Great Pyrenees. I've always planned on owning one but now thier dwindling numbers are telling me its time to make the plunge. I have been chasing an 87 Chevy Caprice Estate, it is blue and in fairly good shape and affordable. I'm waiting for the dealer to get it inspected so I can buy it. YAY! This site is great, I had no idea they had an actual following.
to the wagon train, dog. I love the GM 80's box wagons!I hope it's in great shape. You will enjoy that car.
Good luck, Dog. Grab that Caprice Estate before it's too late and somebody else gets it. Post some pictures; we love wagon porn.
dogwagon. Ya better get a deposit down on that wagon before someone else does. Have them sign a paper that if it doesn't pass inspections you get a refund. Even a bad wagon is better than no wagon. PS glad you don't raise cats! catwagon really does sound a little pornographic.
Welcome aboard! You're in good company here in your love of 80's wagons. I suspect Tedy will chime in here shortly to confirm this but I've heard rumors that wagons and dogs are meant to be together.
Oh they have a following all right! There are also draggers, haulers, a couple of pushers and a few "can you find the missing pieces" wagons and we lovem all! Good luck nailing yours down! Can't wait to see it...:2_thumbs_up_-_anima
Still working on it So frustrating, I origionally found it at one dealer who had got it as a trade in. He told me it was for sale but to call him the next day. They next day he told me he had sold it but gave me that number. I called that guy and made him an offer on it but he hadnt seen it yet. He told me to call him the next Monday. His intention was to scrap it but my husband has convinced him to sell it to us but he wont take a deposit or anything. He just put us off another week till today............ called today and no one is there. I'm so lame I went and sat outside the fence and fantasized about actually being able to touch it. I will not be thwarted.
Sounds like the dealer wholesaled it in a package deal and the buyer hasn't seen it yet. It could ALSO be that the guy that bought the package is a wholesaler only and CAN'T sell you the wagon. Maybe the 2 of them are trying to work a deal to sell it to you through the original dealer. Things can get tricky, believe me. Especially when everyone that touches the car wants to make a buck from it. Hope it works out for you. Don't let the car out of your sight and make sure the original dealer is aware that the salesman said he would sell YOU the car after it was inspected.
Crazy Thanks for the insight, that would make alot of sense with the wholesale. Luckily it is parked where I see it throughout the day. Also, I can see progress since it has a new tire on it. We agreed on a price already, so hopefully that wont be an issue.
