There's more than one Ford 2.3.
There's the sinple SOHC they first put in the Pinto in '73 or '74 I believe. Should be the same engine that found its way into the base Fairmont as well.
There's the turbo'd 2.3 they put in the Mustang and T-Bird in the 80's (related to the Pinto engine I believe)
There's also a DOHC 'Duratech' 2.3 (actually a Mazda engine) that was available in the Focus and Fusion - I've got one of those.

    Norm?

My daughter is going dirt tracking, she has a car but it just needs a motor. So I'm trying to figure out the best one as far as horsepower.

That would be my first choice, but she has to run a 2.3 Ford or a 2.5 Chevy. And, it has to match the make. So hers is a Mustang which means a 2.3.

She gets many of these.:bump:I might get to go racing.:yahoo:

    Umm weren't those pushrod engines?
They were based on the I6 tooling.
