I have a 1967 Country Squire that I just got running. I have noted that there are a lot of exhaust fumes coming in the vehicle especially when I have the rear window open. I have dual exhaust that exit behind the wheels and mechanicaly the car has no problems - any hints or help would be great.

You don't have one of those roofrack mounted air spoilers do you? Otherwise you're just gonna have to keep moving fast.:biglaugh:

The exhaust exits behind the wheels.....Do the exhaust pipes exit the side of the car or just point down?

Are the pipes all under the car, If the exit the sides do they come out from the body of the car a couple inches? this is important.

I put dual exhaust on my old 80 Conony Park, the factory singel ehaust side exited and the pipe came out past the body a couple inches. When I put duals in I sde exited but cut the pipes an inch shy of being flush for looks and had exhaust coming into the car if the rear window was open and I had the wind roof spoiler on the rack, it did'nt matter. I was told to move the pies back closer to the wheel back to the stock location and put pipe extentions on so it would be again how it stuck out before....no more exhaust fumes in the car. Was an exhaust shop that told this, has to do with the "eddie curants" around the car

I swear by it Norm, I still have the single exhaust in the Crewzer :cry:and that dam pipe looks like crap sticking out but I drive with the hinged window open a couple inches with the boys and they have no problems sticking there nose out for "sniffs" so you know nothing is comeing back in (same story in the old Fox Marqius)...the old "canarie in a coal mine thing"

In the Colony our old German Shep was going nuts trying to get in the front seat while we were driving in the city..could'nt figure out WTF, we could'nt smell it! This was instantly after I (myself) put the duals on. First trip on the highway (no dog) I had the back window all the way down and door glass up, gassed myself, and the WTF started all over. That was alot of years ago but it was a dam good learning curve.

A dog for a smoke detector. Good idea.:biglaugh:

I sent mine to a Mister Muffler and they stuck it out beyond the rear quarter too. I've had the hatch open to transport furniture (taller stuff) and no smoke. The chrome extensions are a cheap fix.
