I have always gotten mediocre service at best dealing with internet ordered stuff most of the time and even bad service from a company I ordered some suspension parts for my C-10 from but last night I ordered some tires for my Tundra and also wheels and tires for my wagon from Discount Tire Direct. I get a call from a Rep today asking some questions about what they were going on and to let me know they had to have 2 of the wheels shipped from Ohio to Texas before they could be shipped out so it may be longer than the 2 to 5 days I was quoted. The Rep also told me they were out of the tires for my Tundra and would upgrade to the next tire for free. So for my first time using them I am pleased with their service because some companies I have dealt with didn't take the time to let you know what was going on with your order. The Rep also gave me a number so I can deal directly with him so I have to give them a for service so far! Hope in a week or two I am not reporting otherwise.....
Personalized customer service, it goes along way. It really wasn't that long ago that this type of service was the normal. Now it feels like they have gone above and beyond. Sounds like a great experience so far.
I've been very happy with the service at our local Discount Tire location. I've probably purchased 10 sets of tires there; absolutely no complaints.
You are right but I had gotten accustomed to service that was less than stellar from companies. I handle most of my dad's parts, tires and accessories orders because he doesn't even know how to turn on a computer and were more than disappointed when trying to order all his stuff when we did his Malibu with a big performance equipment company. It was over 11K for engine, headers and everything else we made a order for and the ball was dropped on the shipping and they were pretty much like "So, we didn't get it out, we will try to get it on a truck soon." Mind you this was 3 days after it should have been in our driveway...needless to say the other Performance Equipment Company got that order when we cancelled it that day.
What's this? GOOD customer service............from ANY company in 2014?? Seems like a rare commodity these days! Thanks for the report.
Keep us up on this Dennis. I am not buying any tires soon but would love to hear about a company who does good business. Son delt with a transmission rebuilding company in Florida. First rebuild failed in a few months. company rep seemed friendly and helpful to son. Even sent a check for $220 roughly for labor and fluids for the automatic tranny. For some unknown reason that one lasted only 500 miles. It worked and shifted great. Everything was hooked up right and he had a double flow heavy cooler. Now they blame lousy torque converter bolts for the second failure and son is stuck. A company we bragged on is now giving him the shaft. On the plus side he bought everything he needs and installed a five speed GM in his 1985 Chevy truck. Had to buy a new flywheel because he couldn't find one. The donor 1996 GMC had the newer flywheel. Here's a tidbit...... GM from 1985 back has a two piece rear seal and a different bolt pattern crank. 1986 on has a smaller bolt pattern and one piece seal. Nw all he needs is a rare larger spline courser toothed yoke! The standard T-5 takes the small yoke.
I've also had very good service from Discount Tire. Bought tires from them quite a bit down in So Cal (known down there as 'America's Tire Co. - same company). Also bought from them up here - whole set of Continentals put on my HHR. They had to have the correct type/size shipped in from their Northern Cal warehouse, but I wasn't in a big hurry - just took a week or so.
I've been dealing with the same manager at the same tire store for over 20 years. I call him up, tell him what size, how many, and when I want to come in. He has them there when I get there and mounts them right up. Prices have been fair, too. After I got the 4 new tires on our Tahoe, I called their competitor (Discount Tire) for a price quote on the exact same thing. John saved me over $80.00. He'll also dismount and remount tires on other wheels for me free when I'm setting up a new project car, turned a pair of drums free, and pressed in new bushings for me prior to an alignment.
Having owned a small town tire shop myself, you are the kind of customer that kept me going while in business. Unfortunatly not enough like you and I closed after a couple years. We have one or two indipendant shops still but hard to get to with my hours and their's. I would rather deal with hometown shop but just not able to and I just felt for a big chain they gave more personalized service than most and I would recommend to anyone who doesn't have a hometown shop to deal with.
Another happy Discount Tire customer BIG Dave in Arvada,Co has been my go to guy for years now Great deals and even better customer service !!!
love Discount Tire, have bought probably 8 or 9 tire sets from them over the years; both at store and online and really really good service
I've never dealt with Discount, but years ago I needed tires for my first Thunderbird, and I wanted performance whitewalls. None were available here in Canada, but Tire Rack sold me a set of BFGoodrich Comp T/A HR-4s, delivered to friends in Buffalo, and it was fantastic service, at a great price. It is always great to hear about companies that do still remember that customer service is an important part of the transaction!
Plus I've always wanted to throw a tire through there window. But I've never been un happy with there service.
