I wanna know more from everyone who drives their wagon every or almost every day. I do and I'm sure some of y'all must too.

Do you have TBI, EFI, or a Carb? Do you swap tires in the winter? Weight in the back? What's it take for ya. I just put some sand bags in the back of mine and go on my way. The carb takes some putzing though. So, I look forward to hearing from you daily driver folks! God bless!

I've got a carb and new all-weather Uniroyal tires. No extra weight. A pearl of a car. With the automatic on our icy roads (salt stops melting at -14C (10F), I downshift or slow down in neutral. We spend most of our winter (Mid-November to early March) under 10F. It only ways 2,675 lbs, so it keeps slipping and sliding down to a minimum on this mess. :D

Mine is mostly the 92 Ranger. I've had trouble lately that is now fixed on the wagon. I may drive it more soon.

Well, I'm glad to see that there's some other day-to-day wagon drivers out there. I'm impressed that you're driving a carburated model up there in Canada Norman. Today's the first day since I got my wagon that I didn't drive it to school. I had to take my dad's Jimmy today because my doors were frozen shut. It was rainy and about 40 last nite and it's -26 right now.

-26F? That's monokini weather! Get some lock de-icer for the locks and either belt dressing or a cloth with brake cleaner sprayed on and rub it on the rubber. That won't harden the weatherstrips and it will nuke the moisture content (no more icing).

The solution was the 3rd carb.

The first carb was jetted with a #58 jet. I didn't know that and one of the vacuum ports was interfering with the accelerator pump linkage and the idle screw did nothing.

#2 was jetted at 58 and the float was hanging up and I couldn't make it stop along with an incorrect metering rod and internal air leakage from a warped bowl.

#3, I replaced the #58 jet with a #64, adjusted the float correctly and voi'la success.

The funny part is these carbs are "tested".

Probably a visual 'test'. So did the vendor do right by you? Was it a brandname rebuilder? Any way to avoid this kind of mess?

Holley. It's the only choice for my car. I learned to open them up and inspect first. Know what jet I need and know the proper float setting.

A new carb (Motorcraft or Holley) for my application is almost $500 and still may have incorrect float setting along with improper jet.
