I'm getting tired of this lousy weather. It's cloudy again today and threatening rain. We must be getting close to our 15 days of clouds by now for the year. It was sunny and in the low 70's all last week and now these clouds. Probably only get a high of 58* or so. I can't wait for winter to be over. The ground hog may be right this year. We'll probably not get up to the 90's until at least April at this rate. We've already had our annual quota of 4.91 inches or rain this year. We're swimming in water. The city already has had to add drainage to one of the streets when the new Rite-Aide building was done. I've had to wear a jacket to work since November! Not to mention that washing the car is downright unpleasant in these temperatures. Did I mention we had frost last month? I had to wear a sweater and a jacket to work.
And it's way to chilly for sandals, right? We've got gorgeous sunny days, with that Russia/Alaska Northwest wind just freezing up the works here. Right now, across the street the city is digging up one neighbour's water main, under the street, (8 feet) because the frost line pushed our 3' layer of Clay down. They just rebuilt that side of the boulevard 4 years ago. We'll get up to 32F by next Monday.
Yeah but TBird's Navy. With all that rain, sandals are great when you're walkin' on water. (As long as you know where the stones are...)
With all the wind the clouds blew away. NO RAIN....Yet. I don't do sandals. Ya just hate to step on a scorpion. Ruins your whole day. But that's a summer story. Never, ever wear sandals at night. "It's not prudent". (quote from GHWB, 41)
Forgot about the Scorpions. Red or black? We had red ones in Guadalajara. I ran the main server network and the Numerical Machine servers for our Injection molding systems in the US, Canada and our 2 plants in Guad. Someone got a key into the Server room one time and left 3 red ones. I knew about them (no deadly venom, but you feel like sh!t for a few days), so I didn't freak out. I just grabbed them and put them in the Lunchroom freezer. Someone wanted a day off. Well the kitchen staff got it off, and the plant folks saw a new security system go in.
I'll bet you, Stovebolt and the Rev all share the same problem: Hard to get socks for webbed toes. I lived in Tsawwassen, BC years ago, same thing, Rain, rain, rain. And they called it the Sunshine Coast! ha.
Puts a whole new meaning to camping outdoors. On our move up from Guad., we stopped in a Southern Texas campground and tried to sleep under the stars. My dear wife ended up putting her sleeping bag right on top of a red-ant hill. To this day, she won't go camping.
Liquid sunshine!!! Gotta love it. Actually, we moved from Albuquerque to Portland specifically because of the rain. After growing up near El Paso and in Phoenix, I absolutely hate the desert. All of my family still live in those two areas (except for a brother in Seattle). It is very difficult to not have family around, especially when parents/grandparents/aunts/uncles start falling into ill health...but I just can't bring myself to go back to the Southwest. I went to Phoenix last June to see my grandmother and a lot of family...it was 117 F !!!!! Just a subtle reminder of why we left...been here 11 years, now. If I never see 90+ F again, it's allright with me.
Snow melts and turns in to water. It's a good thing. Just ask Stormin and Handy Andy... You might have to put shoes on tho.
