    Hello!
I am looking to buy Carter Carpac racks (I put them on all cars I build from the 1950, as I can)...I kmow that's kind of a ":wanted ad"...but I wanted to mention it.

Second...any pictures, including old snapshots..of aftermarket racks on 1940s-1960s wagons?

There is a great 1940s one I have seen of Ansel Adams photographing from the roof of a woodie with a big platform he had built onto the car...in Zion(?).
Anyone seent that one? can't find it now!

Only the coolest looking old aftermarket racks!

These things were VERY nicely made.

    Thanks!

These are cool aren't they. Bought a 96 incher or 108 the big one with the original canvas bag, original ladder and the platform to stand on from a photographer in Tucson. Paid 350, now refinishing but need a side decal. Matt in Reno

Sounds like a steal! Very cool. You'll have to post some pics of it. You putting it on a wagon by any chance?

As noted, these racks are still being made, in Oregon. We saw a '55 Chev wagon at at vintage campout in Lynden in September and it had an original rack on it that was gorgeous. The car, and the rack, had been restored. the lady that owned the rig told us the new ones are just as nice.

A tad pricey, but if you need a roof rack and want something that will not only last a long time but will also add a new level of vintage look to your wagon, one of these would be the way to go.

Did you get a brand new one or find a used one? Sure does look good. Will be dynamite on your wagon.

Looks beautiful! Tell us the details on it - should make interesting reading.
Also - what's that 'leg' on the left side of the pic? Is that a bracket that attaches to the drip rail?
