I know nothing about this car or dealer. But they claim to have an office here in Australia as well as Los Angeles. If his claims & the car are genuine as well as pricing, it may be an avenue for me to start considering some of North Americas fine autos? http://cars.ebay.com.au/RAMBLER-1962-AMERICAN-STATION-WAGON-AUTO-ALL-ORIG-CAR_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQitemZ330335215722
That's about $4,760 in U.S. dollars (for a 'starting price') The Rambler American was American Motor's smallest vehicle. Not really desireable here in the U.S. as a collectable, except for the most fanatic American Motors fanatic. Question; Are you required to convert the vehicle to right-hand drive?
I've got some homework to do on that one. In the past I used to see a "Caution Left Hand Drive" sticker on the back of imported vehicles. Lately there are a few getting around without the sticker and with local number plates? But I'll need to do some checking on this?! Is the price high if this car was over in the U.S. ?
In my opinion, yes. Not a highly desireable car; no documentation that any of the mechanicals are rebuilt - it just looks pretty good in photos. -- In other words, nothing special. If the vehicle were a '62 Ford Falcon or a '62 Plymouth Valiant or Dodge Lancer, then you would have something. Here's a Plymouth Valiant......
Good call Krash Kadillak. The Plymouth Valiant was out here in it's day although the rear door pillar looked different. I'll have to locate a pic of a local model. From memory I think they came out as Chrysler Valiant down here. (Don't rely on my memory whatever you do) It was a shame when Chrysler Valiant left Aust they had some great solid cars. I'm currently looking at a 65 (Aust) Ford Falcon wagon over here on this link: http://cars.ebay.com.au/1965-XP-Ford-Falcon-Super-Pursuit-Deluxe-Station-Wagon_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQitemZ180364883609
Found these pearls while I was searching for local Chryslers This is a coupe 1926: http://digiads.com.au/carsales/used-cars/USED-1926-CHRYSLER-CHRYSLER-CONVERTIBLE-CAR-FOR-SALE-ALBURY-NSW-2640.htm Only found a pic of a 1962 Valiant ambulance wagon, & 1 sedan;
Both the Rambler and the Falcon look pretty good to me.And,as someone else here at the Forums said once "If somebody is willing to pay the posted price,then it must've been worth it." That said,if you can,actually go and see the cars to decide for yourself.MANY here at the Forums have said that...One thing I've said here is that cameras can be kind. It would do you good to see the cars in person,if possible. Don't listen to those other guys telling you the Rambler isn't desirable.I have a feeling it's "them" that don't like Ramblers that much. Beauty IS in the eye of the Beholder.And,if you think it's beautiful,GET IT !!!:2_thumbs_up_-_anima The Valiant ambulance looked pretty cool too...
