I got a hold of a '65 ford falcon 2 dr wagon for $800....car is remarkably in good shape for its age.....all the sheet metal, glass, doors are there...it is also an original 289 florida car..there is some bubbling rust on the rear quarters, roof, and bottom of the door but nothing all too uncommon..even the cowl is in great shape as this is a weak spot on the fords....it even has its original a/c in it as well as original rearend....the owner wanted $1000 for it and didn't want to go any lower than that without removing the 302 and 5 spd....i have already given him a deposit and should sign off on ownership within the next two weeks....these are so hard to find as ford only made 4891 of them in '65...I will post some pics upon delivery

Nah, make us drool a bit longer ........ 'Nuff!:rofl2:

Good for you. Are you gonna snoopervise the engine/tranny pulling? May have to sniff out a new driveshaft for your setup. Sounds like a great find.

I have to leave you all in suspense a little bit to get the anticipation going....No the owner is going to pull both himself....I actually will be getting the driveshaft along with the original rear and most importantly the a/c components....still not sure if I am going to go original with this one or do some mods....leaning more toward the original with some brake/suspension upgrades

I am going out on a limb but I wanted to ask the following question:

I wanted to find out how many '65 falcon 2 dr wagons had the optional challenger 289 option?...from the research I found out ford only produced 4891 of the two doors and there are about 183 worldwide that are still registered....have also posted this same question with the falcon club of america

    '65 2dr Falcon wagon

I've been into Falcon wagons for over 30 years, and the number of "factory" 289 2dr wagons that I have heard of is very low.

As you know, these were used primarily as delivery/work vehicles. I believe that in one of the states in the upper midwest, the phone or power company had fleets of these.

    My first Falcon was a '65 4dr Futura model with, 289 V8, 2v,Green Dot C4, P/S, and A/C.

    A '65 Sedan Delivery I had was a 170 I6 with 3 on the tree.

    My '66 was a 4dr with a 200 I6 and automatic.

And the '65 2dr wagon that I have For Sale was originally a 170 I6 with 3 on the tree, but someone in Az put a 200 I6 with a floor shift C4 into it, probably from a muscrat.

So to repeat myself, if your wagon had a 289 in it, I would check its date, it could very well be correct for that car.

    289?

The fifth digit of the VIN for the 289 should be a "C"

    Good hunting!
