Yes, I called. It's out of warranty their legal obligation is done and they have no intention of doing anything for me. It seems a common fault according to what I've found sniffing around the internet. The radio it replaced lasted 18 years and still works, when I reminded the customer "service" rep at Kenwood they were unimpressed. I won't buy another. I'm aware of Kenwood's rep in radio, 2 way, SW, etc. Their name is now mud with me though. I hope yours keeps pluggin away.
Now that the weather has almost cleared, I just got around to snapping some pics of the interior. It's nice having a blank slate to work with. The head unit took all of about 20 minutes to put in: Hacked holes in the doors for the components, Rockford Fosgate Power series. Not glaringly happy with them, but they're pretty good.
