I have some doubts about this one (not mine, don't know the owner, posting for general interest):

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=221191112758#ht_37777wt_1165

First of all, the seller hasn't bothered to replace the Di-Noc but instead has painted it to try to make it look like wood grain. Then he has painted the fiberglass wood trim yellow - and painted right over the screws the hold the trim in place! Not only that, he didn't put the chrome caps that cover the screws back on! :slap: Although the seller says he has them.

Looks to me like there's plenty of white overspray - who knows what's under that new white paint?

The side mirrors are mounted on the fenders, not the doors. Odd. Very odd.

And yet ... the interior looks pretty damn good. No pictures of the dash - is it cracked? No pictures of the rear cargo area. No pictures of the underbody. We'll have to take his word for it that it is rust-free. But the interior looks original and hasn't been messed with - always a good thing.

    84k original miles? Maybe ...

Only less than 14 hours into the auction and the price is already bid up to $6,500.

That looks like a vehicle put together very fast for sale purposes. I can't imagine what the body looks like under all that bad paint. Those uneven lines on the lower 1/4's look like filler to me as with the rest of the body. It's obvious the rails weren't removed for the faux woodgrain paint. Not going to be cheap to get all the stainless caps either. I always like to give positive comments on other peoples cars and not try to give my own lame opinions to what others peoples items are worth.

    But wowee!

The new owner is going to have their work cut out for them taking that car completely apart to restore it correctly. It would be scary to see what is underneath all that. Looks like the car is from the east too.

Seller claims to have all the caps. I think the car looks great as a driver-quality vehicle for cruise ins and weekend transportation.

I especially like the bumper treatment! This is a doctored car and done badly. One other thing I don't believe.....the high bid. Might be a no reserve auction but it would appear that someone friendly is running up the bids.

Why do they always have to put a surfboard on the roof?
    That is so over done.

Aside from the wheels and tires, I like this one. Add the caps over the screws and it will look a LOT better. For a driver-quality car, I like the painted wood grain. The clear coat will protect it and keep it looking good for a lot longer than the dy-noc. It seems like that airbrushing was done to a high standard, too. Best of all, any marks that do show can be touched up, rather than having to redo entire sides of the car.

The mirrors on the front fenders don't bother me at all. Back then, exterior mirrors were optional for both sides. Many people did not get the factory mirror, but added them, and it was not uncommon to mount them to the fenders. The theory was that you had to move your eyes less distance to check the mirrors and being mounted further ahead reduced blind spots. If you look at Japanese market cars, the exterior mirrors are still mounted at the extreme front ends of the fenders for exactly those same two reason.

Yup, every pic of the rear just screams:disagree:....hey Mr air brush, ya missed the center of tho letter "O" and "R".... trim never removed. Even 5 minutes with a SOS pad would have done alot for the rear bumper.

This below has to be the best..... why would you post this pic, it's not helping your price?

It clearly shows the fiber glass trim was not removed, pitting int the trim was not taken care of, real bad tape masking, and ya couldn't even be bothered to feather sand if it was sanded at all before the white paint

Shame, it's got what apears to be a real nice interiour, yet with some flaws but real decent. Grey carpet under the red floor mat up front for one thing..... This IMO is a great example of a stunning 100 footer

I would like to see jail sentences handed out in future to all those advertising these cars with surfboards on the roof rack. In all my time driving my '64 I was never tempted to put a surfboard on top. Never. :naughty:

The photo of the right side shot of the rocker panel and 1/4 were a give away for me when I first saw the photo and commented on it. It has definately been heavily worked. And unfortunately I do not mean that in a good way.

Didn't you get the memo? Anytime you have a station wagon for sale you are obliged to put a surfboard on top and advertise it as a "surf wagon". That's how they were all used back in the day don't you know?
