after restoring two 52 Chevy pickups for resale, I have started a resto-mod project on a 52 tin woody that i plan on keeping for my wife and my personal enjoyment. The first thing I realized is how many fewer restoration parts are available for the woodys of that era. Not many delivered and not that many still around so not much demand for some of the parts. As of Thursday past, the body and doors are out for dipping and prime. Next decision is whether to put new front and rear end assemblys on existing frame or go with a Roadstershop.com frame. Looking forward to sharing my adventure with others. I got this project car from Elpaso TX and it also spent some of its life in Mexico since there's a Mexican registration tag on it also. Also, it was obvious that the car spent some time on the bottom of a river somewhere. Every crack and crevis was packed with dirt and mud. Even under the mouldings. Here is how i received it: Here it was before being sent off to dipping and prime: Here's what I hope to end up with, something like this: Bill Harris
and good luck with the woody. I remember driving by one a few times a year for a long time. When I finally decided to stop, it was gone. Hang on to yours and have fun with it.
Tavishdad. Your wagon might have been through a hurricane or flood at some point in its life. If it looks like the finished one in the pictures when you are done with the rebuild it is going to be stunning.
Tav the guy that owns the company that i work for is doing 2 of them ! the one has a full Art Morrison chassis under it with air....its gonna be pretty sharp
