Next year, same Bat-time, same Bat-channel! You know, Chris Berman of ESPN uses that phrase. I heard him say it during their U.S. Open golf coverage a couple of weeks ago when mentioning when they would be on the air again the next day. I wonder how many people hearing him say it know where it comes from.
Do these yearly shows ever make it to the Midwest? Not complaining, just curious. I would like to drive to one, but wouldn't trust the wagon to go over 400 miles on way at this time.
I think they've been to Indiana, and they have been to Michigan. But farther west than those I don't believe so.
A member will put in a bid to do the show. I hosted 2008 and now 2012. It just depends on who can host the show and if they can find a reasonable facility to do it. We were in Pittsburgh last year.
That's close enough to me where I may very well attend. I've always wanted to go to one and never have. Still a long way off, but I'm penciling it in.
We always have a great time and have several interesting activities planned, including a trip to Hemmings.
Attendance numbers depends on where the show is. We had about 75 wagons in and around the show field in Sturbridge Mass in 2008. We didn't have as many the next 2 years, but had about 55 this year in Pittsburgh and we had quite an eclectic bunch! We had Pintos, Vegas, an Opel Kadett and a Crosley. Plus we had a 53 and 58 Pontiac wagon, several clamshells, several Chryslers and Fords/Mercurys and a 72 Eldorado wagon. The owner of Paul's Chrome brought 4 wagons and 1 of them was an ultra loaded 1966 New Yorker wagon. It must have had every conceivable option in it. There is a You Tube video of the 2008 show.
I'll have to get my new wagon polished up, get my wife in the car and bring a cooler. That sounds like fun.
