what is "safetied"? Never heard that expression. Car's got 200k on it but it's still pretty clean and worth way more than a grand or best offer.

Our Canadian friends apparently require all their passenger vehicles to undergo and pass a safety inspection, not sure of frequency, but required of all registered vehicles apparently.

Yes and no. I'm not sure but I don't believe Alberta has yaerly inspection though I may be wrong.

My island there is no yearly safty inspection, just insure and drive. The police can make you get one if they chose to do so, if your driving a clearly POS or as I've heard happen...lip the officer off, thats happend to a few of the young guys at work(smart thinking:slap:)

Out of province and if said car has been wirten off and put back on the road also need inspection before insurance is ishued.

The catch is you can only see one side of the car and the picture they did supply is blurry.

D'OH, I knew as soon as I posted it that leaving my disclaimer out would bite me on the azz. :)

In Ontario we only have to pass a safety and a smog test on transfer of ownership and then smog tests every two years after that.
I've often thought that safety inspections at regular intervals might be worthwhile given the state of a lot of cars on our roads. On the other hand, we all remember the outcome of my roadside safety check the day I brought my Roadmaster home. Can't say as I'm eager to do that again.
