Hello Wagon Masters! Looking for some feedback on a leak issue I currently have on my 1992 Olds Custom Cruiser. It's been wet in the footwell area on the passenger side. After it dried, made a short trip (about 40 minutes). Turned the AC on and after the trip noticed the carpet was wet on pass side. It was plain water, no slippery feel or smell of antifreeze. It's my best guess it is a leak from condensate during AC operation but that can be coincedental. I checked the service manual, no mention of the drain or repair. I assume this is a inside moving out in terms of getting to the problem area. I'm sure I'm looking at the interface where the drain tube connects to the case or a crack in the case or a cracked tube? Does anyone have any pictures or have experience with this type of repair? Just doing some research on the issue before I get into it. Thanks in advance for any input! Regards, Mike
This is a pretty common issue on the later model B-Bodies. I believe the drain from the evaporator is either broken or misplaced or missing. I'm sure there are a ton of other posts on impalassforum.com about this. https://www.impalassforum.com/threads/wet-carpet-ac-evaporator.503385/#post-4995137
Thank You, Kevin. The rubber angle fitting is/was missing. I have that on order now. Thanks for the link.
