Think I still like the Brown one for a little less $$$ and it has a moon roof. Maybe the black box is in case of a crash.

Black box I would speculate is a battery tender for when the car sits.

I swear it seems like after not seeing these cars much for 20 years dozens keep popping up for sale over the last 1-2 years...

I know. Jaunty must follow every Olds on line. Lol. It does seem like an inordinate amount of them cheated Father Time. I love seeing them. My aunt and uncle had a ‘74 in that limeish green with a white top and interior. Loved that car.

Awesome battleship of a car. I love seeing these 70s luxo barges too. Was curious to see just how big this Olds was so looked it up - 227.5 inches long, over a foot longer than a 2020 Ford Expedion which comes in at 210 inches.

The decade of wretched excess! Wonder percentage wise how much more material went into a bell bottom, wide lapels leisure suit, then into these damn skinny boy suites they wear now. Probably the same comparison as the Toro to the Expedition.

I really liked this one until I saw the crunchy rear bumper.

It only seems that way. I do follow the '77 and '78 Toronados, I'm actively looking for a '77 XS.

The '77 and '78 Toros were really the poor stepsisters of Oldsmobile's lineup those two years. The big cars were downsized across GM for 1977, but the Toro (and Eldorado) hung on with the old design for two more model years. After the downsizing, the Toronado was the largest, heaviest car Oldsmobile offered. Olds didn't do much to spruce up the Toros those two years except for the addition of the XS option, but it was only an option, accounted for only about 20% of total sales those two years, and the big-news XSR with the folding T-tops never came to fruition. Most of the old car press has not been kind to these Toros with some articles using the "XS" name to mock the cars as being examples of "excess." Anyway, that's why I'm love 'em!
