I really like this conversion. My question is this-Whose tailgate is that? I can't remember GM cars of that era having exposed hinges.
The steering wheel has been switched out at some point. The one it's got looks like something from the '80s. This is the 1969 factory wheel.
This one has been posted before and although a beautiful wagon I myself asked 'WTF??? way back when it was posted re- the barn door tailgate hinges" for a car that looks so (almost) 100%, the hinges take away sooooooooooooo much when it comes to curb appeal.......
My grandfather had a '70 Coupe d Ville. One of the features I remember finding so unique was the placement of the switch for the windshield wipers, also seen here on this wagon, on the door. Weird, but cool at the same time.
This wagon looks, to me, to be in very bad shape. Those lines don't appear to be scratches to me, they appear to be bondo cracking. I may be wrong, but if so, this car would be a tremendous amount of work.
As to the tail gate....... 1969 was the first year for the 2-way tail gate in the big GM wagons. It's noted in the ad text that they can't even identify what company did the wagon conversion. Perhaps they were unable to figure out a way to make the 2-way gate work? Also a possibility that it may have had the 2-way gate at some point, and some later owner installed those side hinges. Gate only works one way now - to the side.
