All in all she is an amazing vehicle and she has treated me right. But she is an old girl and she will need to be paid attention to. She can totally make the trip back to your home, but you are going to have to listen to her. She is a blast and easy to drive and work on as she is a daily driver. No need to pass smog. The back seats fold all the way down so that you can put large items in the back or even camp out of it! She is rare! You will most likely never run into the same car. But the good news is that I have found multiple places online that sell spare parts. Speaking of spare parts, she also comes with a spare cylinder head, pullys, carburetor setup, and more! Message me and I can send many pictures.
Fortunately it appears that the "hot rod" part of the ad is incorrect. It appears to be a mostly intact original. Radio and dash pad are missing (dash pads are almost always warped and in need of replacing anyway). They appear to have added some sort of goofy plumbing to the intake but it looks to be a bolt on that should be easily reversible. The streering wheel is incomplete and appears to be transplanted from a 140 series. Not sure how easy it will to find a replacement but I suspect not difficult. Also some of the knobs look like something off of grandma's kitchen cabinets. My 63 had all black knobs, no fake crystal in sight. All in all it seems to be in really good shape and probably worth the asking price. It would be right up my alley if it weren't for the automatic transmission. I would only be interested in a 4sp manual preferably with OD. Nice car though. mike
Glad you liked it. I figured someone would enjoy it. Also, cool to hear from people who recognize original or not, it helps me learn.
Here is a proper interior... http://www1.garaget.org/archive/30/29488/144480/large_144480-1463995.jpg It is possible that the later cars had the 140 steering wheel as both cars were in their lineup concurrently for several years but I certainly prefer the original. Note, mine did not have that console. Don't know if that is factory original or not but mine had a naked tunnel with just the rubber floor matting to cover it. This is a proper engine compartment... http://bringatrailer.com/wp-content...s/1967_Volvo_123GT_For_Sale_Engine_resize.jpg I often miss the grey ghost. Wish I had her back. mike
I wonder if he thinks he 'hot rodded' it by taking the chrome trim off. If that is missing, it can be a little difficult to find, but certainly not impossible. The paint looks pretty ratty, too, but the body does look straight and solid. May be a little high on the price, but a good starting point for someone to fix up right, and these cars do drive very nicely indeed.
