Yesterday I stopped by at my mate Gert's garage, in the greater Rotterdam area of the Netherlands. Gert runs a "Hazzard County-Crazy Cooter-type-garage": Excellent repair service, with a "no nonsense -what you see is what you get" approach and many happy returning customers over the years Last year Gert bought a model year 1966 Rambler Classic 770 Cross Country wagon, and since one month he has the wagon up on a ramp, so he can work on it when he's not busy with costumers cars: The wagon was imported from Belgium, but (looking at the speedometer in miles) it wasn't built there. Engine is the 232 CI 6 cylinder with 2 barrel carburettor, 155 old gross HP, 8.5:1 compression ratio (VIN code G) Click thumbnails
Board member "iron eagle" (Anthony) was also there with his Vista wagon, he had the car on the ramp to change the transmission filter: There are always a few American cars in and around the shop. Even though those are not station wagons, you can have a look at them if you're interested: Click thumbnails
Back to the Rambler: I found this Belgian indentification plate under the bonnet: A 6 K A 85 G 107610 A = AMC 6 = Model year 1966 (Oct 07 1965 - Oct 05 1966) K = Built at the Kenosha, Wisconsin factory A = Automatic column shift (3 speed) 8 = 4 drs wagon 5 = 770 Line G = 232 CI 6 cylinder, 2 barrel carburettor, 155 old gross HP, 8.5:1 compression ratio 107610 = Kenosha production number for model year 1966 (started with 100001)
Cool looking Rambler. How many miles are on it. I see he's got a Vista Cruiser in there as well. His garage seems like a pretty neat place to hang out.
Not sure about the mileage, but I will check the odometer the next time I'm at the garage. Gert's garage is the kind of place that we all need on a Saturday: There are always a few friends around that day to wrench on their cars, or just to drink coffee or....
