Exactly the opposite. What makes an Oldsmobile a rocket is the Olds Rocket V-8 engine. Take that out and you just have some pretty sheetmetal. The LQ9 may be a V-8, and it may be made by GM, but it is not part of the Olds Rocket V-8 line of engines that were last produced in 1990 and trace their lineage all the way back to the first Rocket V-8 in 1949.
I love this car, and with all due respect jaunty, I disagree. It all comes down to a difference of opinion, but there's more 1961 on this car than there is anything else. And for conversations sake, It's not any different than any other automobile that has been restored, even ones that look 100% factory correct. Unless all original or NOS parts were used, usually there is more 21st century in a car than 20th century. But everyone still recognizes it as a 1960-whatever.
