The engine's original. Unfortunately, not a Hemi, though. Nevertheless, it's enough to move the car. I love that dashboard. Too bad, Chrysler ended up producing a stretch of boring dashes, starting with the mid 60s

Actually, it IS a 'Hemi' - just a very old one.
Per the '57 Dodge brochure, ALL the available V8''s had hemispherical combustion chambers. The particular engine in this wagon seems to be the base V8, with a 2-barrel carb. 325 cubic inches, 245 rated horsepower.

    Not a Hemi.
    A 325 cu.in. Polysphere AKA " a poly".

Sold for a very good price for the buyer.

You're both right. It's not the Hemi as we know it. But, it does have hemispherical combustion chambers. As for being older, both were simultaneously produced at parallel assembly lines. But, the Poly's design was actually newer. Not to improve the already existing Hemi. But, to introduce an engine which was thriftier to produce. I still wouldn't kick it out of the garage:

The location of the sparkplugs was the reason for my skepticism:

Well, it's not quite what I thought it was, then. I was only going by the size of the valve covers.......
