Just went to Menards today and found that they have Menards brand 50/50 antifreeze on sale for $4.99 with a $4.50 mail in rebate. That comes out to $0.49 per gallon! There is a limit of 4 gallons, so I got 4. Menards is a regional store, so if you live in the midwest and have a Menards near you, you will not find antifreeze cheaper than this!
It does not say who makes it on the bottle, just that it is made in the USA in Bedford Park Illinois and distributed by Menards.
Yeah, pari....that used to be against the law. All products used to have to SAY who it was manufactured by when I was in the ad biz. Walmart was instrumental in lobbying against that law and all their products just say "distributed by". Even food products. So....you could buy a steak and it may have come from Bangladesh.
For sure, Kev. Can't beat that price. Menards does things like this and it's hard to pass up the deals.
One does wonder who makes it though. If they usually sell it for $4.99 regularly and the 50/50 name brand stuff at the parts store is over $10 a gallon. I'm in the process of doing a cooling system flush/clean on my Saturn, but I don't want to put crap back in.
Yea, I usually would never buy 50/50 either, but what the heck, 2 bucks gets me 4 gallons, you can't go wrong. If any of you guys buy some, watch what rebate slip you pick up. They try to be shiesty and put rebate slips for $2.00 in the front and the ones for $4.50 are hidden in the back. If you can't find any $4.50 ones, you can print the rebate slip from Menards.com under rebate number 3321.
Check that. I'll have to swing by tonight. Couldn't find any antifreeze manufacturers in Bedford Park specifically, but it looks like Peak and Prestone have presences very close to that area.
