I stumbled across this site just about a week ago. Not sure how I missed it. I have always loved station wagons. I lurked for a few hours over the course of that week before deciding to join. My username comes from my love of my truck that I no longer have. I sold it last year because it was too costly to keep a fifth vehicle insured. here's a pic. I miss it terribly but a man has to make choices. my wagon when I brought her home in 2006. I bought her from a younger guy in Wisconsin. He inherited it from his Grandfather. On the drive home to CT the fuel pump went. Which kept me stuck in Jersey for a couple of days. Luckily that was not an bad omen, just bad luck. She has served me well as a daily driver and a weekend traveler towing my Airstream trailers. I towed one summer to get a good feel and then began the mods to make an already good towing vehicle even better. Not many mods needed. First I got some larger diameter wheels to shrink the tire sidewall. Then I added some gauges to keep myself informed of some systems. The next mod will be to fix/improve the radiator, since it just began leaking. I love this car very much, it's hard to believe I tried to replace it two years ago. Wife bought me a 2008 Yukon Denali. Absolutely awesome truck. Towed like a dream. But she lost her job and struggling to make those payments on my salary was tiresome. so I got rid of it. heres a photo of both Airstreams and both tow vehicles. I was able to sell the Yukon for close to what I owed and the wagon that I ignored for nearly 2 years started right up and asked to tow again. So now it's my sometimes daily driver and always weekend work truck/hauler comfy chair. I love my family, my house, my cars, my Airstreams and my bicycles. The last three change order often. Thanks for having this site. I'm sure I will have fun.
What a great intro. That is exactly what wagons were designed to do. You almost never see wagons towing anymore. It sure brings back memories of cross country trips in a wagon towing a trailer. That's how it was always meant to be done.
Great to hear about your love of wagons (et al)!!! I'm sure you'll enjoy this site and fit in well!!!
Hi Sleepy, welcome to the group. Nice intro to the group. I too have a weak spot for trucks So do you have two air streams? His and Hers? The changes to your wagon look great love the rims, I also have a weak spot for chrome
Lurking must be like a cage. You just can't see everything. Well now, we can see yours, and she's a beaut. Thanks for coming aboard.
Welcome and great intro. There's a bunch of folks here who tow Airstreams (and other vintage trailers) with their wagons so you are in very good company - if I may say so myself. Sad about the truck and the Denali, but some of us would think that you kept the right vehicle in the end. Great pics too, by the way.
....theres probably tongue marks on the trailer from Saf,,, good on ya for keeping the wagon.. to our garage
mytruck! Awesome introduction! Love the Roadie! Your wheels are excellent! Your Airstreams are super wonderful! I could go on and on! :2_thumbs_up_-_anima I love that you had good tow vehicles in all three of your rides, but you chose the best of them all to keep! Good going! David
