Everything you are doing will make it more fun. You won't believe how nice it drives with the new front suspension. NICE, you can turn wrenches at my place any day....
Thanks tbird I did the rear springs too, That by its self made a big difference. I would love to come over and skin a few knuckles with ya. But I got to warn ya, I got to have a cold one when that happens No wounder my hands are always tore up
Ok Next up "Operation T5" I went with Modern Driveline for everything,I just liked the way Bruce did things. More on that on down the line. I'm still waiting for the clutch package to get here,He said it wont ship until Friday. With the 200 and a 3.20 rear end he recommend going with a 3.35 first and a .68od 85-89 WC T5. I can use my stock 6394c bell housing, also I have a 9" flat flywheel. I will be going with a "Organic Clutch 9" Diaphragm style pp" ByBy crappy pressure plate. He also installed what he called a "Slik Shifter" It moves the shifter back 1" so I don't have to cut hole in the floor anymore. this is the parts to do the swap. Enjoy, Rick
Question Bud, I know what a full new suspention does to the cars. I did it to my Cougar in 85/86, although my springs and coils were used. At that time in my teens I did'nt have the $ for disc brakes, car handeled great but stopping was still some thing to be desired. now getting to my question...how come your leaving it drum brake up front still?
Speedo gears too? These guys don't go that far back, but Dennis Carpenter or Greg Donahue should have them. http://www.steeda.com/store/steeda-speedometer-recalibration-gears-for-ford-mustang.html Calculator: http://www.superstallions.com/tech/calc/est_mph_ratio.aspx Bet it'll sing now.
Well I am planning to do the fronts, it's a bit of a challenge with the sixes and 14'' 4 lug wheels.:banghead3: I'm still working on the wheel back spacing problem. I'm trying to stay with the stock wheel covers if possible. The wife likes the 17'' also but not too many with 4 lug to chose from.I will start a new chapter when I get there. There is a couple ways to go.one is SSBS I'm still waiting to hear from them on back spacing. Two is called Scarebird Classic Brakes, it give you a back plate for the calipers and you get everything else from your local parts store, they give you a list of the parts you need. And you can use your stock spindles. Changing everything to 5 lug is not a option, way too much $$$$. Only so much time and $$$ to work with. Thanks, Rick
Up Date Well got everything pulled out this weekend, The wife is dropping the flywheel off at the machine shop today for me. I will start cleaning up stuff and painting things for the big "Stuff" next week end. It all came out with no problem, but the pilot bushing was so tight I had to cut it out.:banghead3: What a PITA. I had brass flying every where. At one point I had to stop and remove a chunk of bushing out of my ear. And NO I'M NOT POSTING ANY PICS OF MY EAR Oh well such is the life of a gear head. Rick
