Hey, Doc! Just looked at the new pics of the woodgrain. Awesome. Looks like the same sheen as stock. Like I mentioned in a note, it seems to be holding up just fine on my car; I do keep it garaged or covered to minimize the UV exposure. Can't wait to see it with the trim on it, too! Hang in there. --Hal
Looks like I have a few burned out lights...I will get to that today... By the way, what a PIA it was putting that dash in alone.. I am also concerned that I cant get that ALT light to go out..not sure about that one. OEM FM radio works great! Thanks to Wards classic radio repair. And a scary little pic of before for those of you just tuning in. I was amazed at how many wires were bare from rubbing under the sharp unprotected edges of the dash support. I wrapped all the edges with foam tape to keep it from happening again.
That must be one of the last steel (white instrument cluster tray behind gauges/speedo) units made. Nice work on the harness too.
Hi, great restoration you've got going there. We have a 67 Country Sedan that my Dad ordered new, I was wondering what the two red idiot lights on the left under the dash are. Our wagon has one, it's a seat belt warning light. What is the other one on your wagon?
I'm pretty sure that the alternator light is handled like an AMP gauge, not a low voltage (voltmeter wiring). The lack of dash lights might be related to the same issue, a faulty IVR (Instrument Voltage Regulator) The clock, gas, water and oil pressure needles all get powered through the IVR. 5.1 volts. If you've got a manual, see if it describes the IVR. If there isn't one (IVR), then check the wire (Red/yellow hash on mine) to the main voltage regulator, from the ALT indicator.
Derick, Thanks for the compliment. The two red idiot lights on the lower left side of the dash are a seatbelt light and a emergency brake light. They were both optional. I added them to my squire from the LTD parts car I had.
Norman, We think its the wire coming from the regulator. If I ground it it goes out. Either I have it hooked up wrong or I fired the regulator. I plan on installing 3 VDO guages under the dash so it really wont matter. The other instrument panel lights were just loose and needed tightened. Its good to go now.
