http://corvallis.craigslist.org/cto/1892061148.html I may be going to check this one out. It's about 40 miles from me. "It has a 5.0, it does run, 8 passenger wagon everything works on it, I have the title, Any question call dustin at (541) 619-1779 any trades are welcome "
I always liked the Colony Parks, they are a very classy wagon. For 650, you can't go wrong! Things to check when looking at it are to make sure the transmission still shifts good and that OD still works. The TV cable bushing that ford used was plastic and likes to fall out, and can cook the transmission. Also check the passenger side frame near the front for rot. The frame rail on the passenger side likes to rust through because of the A/C drain location.
Pari has a good point on that tranny bushing....they make a brass one now and it's an easy replacement. I tell ya, Krash.....if it isn't trashed and it's a runner it sure is worth a look. If you find the interior good etc....buy it.
Was all set to go see it later this afternoon, but then the guy called back saying it would turn over, but wouldn't start. We'll check with him again tomorrow.......
At least he called you. I'm on the fence now,,,,did it run?, why does'nt it run now if it did?.......Any Gas in the tank, seen that before and the seller said "bring your own gas and it will run".....as if.. Just my opinion Krash, if it is'nt running, and if it is running and ..........WTF is wrong?....keep on looking! Theres ALOT of wagons /cars out there that are clean when it comes to interiours/exteriours but have never been maintained and it's those that will cost big $$ to fix...just my 2 bits and I think you know how I love Colonys! I walked away from one not long ago out here when I had $ to spend.
Yeah, Tedy. I'm trying to stay 'low-key' on this one. I tend to get all antsy when I'm considering a vehicle purchase, and sometimes leap when I should say whoa. Surprised that the wifey said 'ok' on it - guess it's because of the low price. It's going to have to at least run under it's own power for me to even consider it. If it doesn't happen, it's ok.
Well....he's asking $650. You have to know that it will need some work. Unless it's the deal of a lifetime. One does have to be careful when buying price. Look it over carefully if he gets it running, KK. Mentally add up all the things it will need.
I'm not up on Fords, but as long as the body's clean, no rust, cleanable interior, Why not buy it? Find a 302 short block, do a few modifications (Port and polish the heads, mild cam, aluminum intake,) and you got a great sleeper.
Krash, like 84 says, you can't go wrong for $650 if it's running. I wonder when the last time he drove it was. Sometimes, I've found it's worse to let a car sit than to drive it. I've been told the gaskets dry out and such things when it's idle for a long period of time. Still, for $650; I say go for it.
He says it runs in the Ad, so I guess we wait. Andy and I just saw one maybe a month ago, with Rust Protection - Ming - IIRC. Falling apart. That AC drain upgrade is a winner tip.
Checked with the guy today. he said the water pump went out. He also sold it he says.....Oh well.........
NEXT! That's what I do when something slips out of my grasp (cars, jobs, women). I go outside and yell NEXT! Feels good anyway.
Oh, the water pump went out...that explains why it would'nt start Keep on the hunt Krash, took me several months before I found my 2nd to last wagon
