    Last bit;
    If you look directly in the background, you can see the peak. I was right on the other side of that. Logan sits at about 4500 feet. That peak is over 9700.

    Great pictures and the 71 grille looks great on it. I know how you were feeling up on the mountain. Back in 1988, I bought a new Dodge Dakota 4x4 pickup, my first 4x4. I too went up on a mountain on jeep trails. I too scratched the paint getting by trees that encroached on the trail. At one point I found myself trying to make my way back down and I had the truck teetering on the left front wheel and the right rear wheel with the right front wheel and the left rear wheel not touching the ground. I was trying to manuver between two trees and was sliding sideways on the two wheels closer and closer to one of the trees. I had to take the foot off the brake and let the truck go the rest of the way over the edge to regain control and miss sliding into the tree. Kind of scary and never wanted to do that again after seeing scratches down both sides of my new truck.

    The pics are great, I say keep em coming.
    The brush scratches, if light enough, should buff out.

    As far as the performance of the car on those mountain roads I'm not surprised. When these cars were new they were meant to be taken most any place their owner dared. They were the ultimate family get away car.

    Years ago when I was a younger teen my dad and I would take the Fury up into the high country for hiking/fishing/hunting trips. I'd say it spent half it's life during the summer months in the mountains. We'd see guys in decked out 4X4's and just motor on by. Some of them probly thought we were crazy.

    Isn't that interesting? Wheelbase and body different. Good stuff to know.

    Interesting. Didn't realize the mid-sized Plymouth and Dodge wagons in the 70's had such a long wheelbase (118"). Longer than the BIG Ford and Mercury from '85 on......only 114.3 inches.

    Even the door and Roof lines and glass are different shapes. That must've cost Mopar a bundle to tool up for.

    Yeah, their mid-size wagons were pretty large... I am not sure of the measurements of the wagons like Malibu and Torino - midsize offerings from GM and Ford. Will have to look into that. :) I know the mid-size GM wagons got bigger in 73 and Ford did in 72.

    I like the 71 grille better also_On my 72 I painted it flat black,added the R/T badges and it gave it a whole new look.The front spoiler is from a 71-4 Charger R/T.I recently added yellow high intensity headlights for teh high beams,between all those things it gives teh wagon a real sinister look going down the road.Looks like youve got a nice clean wagon there!
