Where the steering wheel mounts is a square shaft so i just use a shifter (adjustable wrench) to steer. lol. I wouldnt have an air bag though but no one could steal the car
Vice-Grips have worked for me on a few old beaters. Your project sure sounds like you're cookin' up one HOT WAGON! I was thinking today, about all the small goodies I've added and swapped from other Fox-bodied Fords and rename my wagon to 'A FORD Able' ! That would be a knock out line in their ads.
Once I have neared completion I will be able to settle on a name. When I look at other 1988 to 1998 ford falcon wagons over here I have 1 of the 3 most modified versions in the country and I am no where near finished, butpeople over here seem to be interested in following trends and those people look down their noses at people (IE: me) who actually do something different which makes being unique much harder. At the end of the day I can say my car was built and not just a colection of various different bolt on parts and a nice paint job. Oh on the subject of being different is there anyplaces in the US that are very good price wise for superchargers?
Here's a few sites that might help you sort that out. I've used Paxton superchargers before, but the new breeds are out of my scope: http://kennebell.net/superchargers/supercharger-selector.htm http://www.fiestaturbo.com/articles/zetechistory/ http://www.boostvalve.com/ http://www.turboford.net/index.shtml http://www.turbomustangs.com/turbo_links.php I think I already passed on this link too. It's got some good math to help guide you: http://www.allpar.com/fix/holler/slant-six-turbo.html
Thanks for that. I did stumble across the info I was after and appears that my choice will suit well. Now to fond a decent toyota sc14 supercharger and work from there. If I do go this way i would plan on replacing my aircon compressor with the charger to give the stealth look. This charger is off a toyota 2.0L six and wont be entirely suited to my motor but will definately increase my low to mid range torque and power which is exactly what I wanted. I have already found 1 for $400 australian but will depend on finances
Well the government decided not to give me the money they owe me so instead of buying tools I put some fuel in the car and took it into the mountains to give it a hard run and it survied and even exceeded my expectations performance wise but now the the car is off the road again. The reason is I have sold off the steering wheel and dont have a replacement wheel as yet but instead of using the funds to get another steering wheel I am hoping to get a new central locking kit for the car and repair my mobile phone so I can get clearer pictures and then in 12 days I should have my tax money which will then allow me to get paint and tools
Suitcase Oh I am sure that you would be able to find a large enough suitcase if you really looked. What I would be worried about is the ape that you would need to carry it and how strong the handle would be? LOL, TJ
Actually it wouldnt be as bad as you might think. Myself and a mate have lifted one of these motors by hand although it was just the block, crank, rods, pistons, sump and head and all the fluids drained. I am 6foot 5 and 275lbs and can lift the back of some small cars off the ground eg: Late 80's suzuki swifts and mazda 121 metros
I can just see Canada Customs asking me who my bearded companion is... My dad and I owned a junkyard when I was in my early 20's. I could just hold my end of a Mopar hemi. My dad could carry it (like you). I'm 165 lbs. soaken wet and 5' 8". Would even try that stunt today, 40 years later.
Well I dont think it would help as no matter what I do paint wise this car will not be stealth. Its just to loud and out there. I did speak to the paint shop though and 4L of white acrylic paint was going to cost just over $200 aussie dollars but painting the car in a satin/matt black reduces the price by more then $175. So all up I can have all the paint, primer, thinners, tapes and masking papers for just over $200. So it certainly looks like its the winner in the looks and price stakes and I could then get some red and white pin striped flames on the car. Today the car did get a little bit of attention. I emptied the pile of useless crap out of it and removed the tweeter mounts, front and rear door trims and the side review mirrors. Now the mirror will be getting some work on then for the fitment of the indicators but how far I might take the mods on them is still undecided. The tweeter mounts are just going to be readjusted and smoothed and the door trims now have a hole in the bottom of them to house the cross over box for my front splits. I am hoping to also get a black leather manual shift boot for the car as well as some steel so that I can build some panels for the engine bay to hide/store and neaten up the whole bay. Also all of the stickers and badges will be coming off if the car goes black.
yes they are the little tiny speakers mounted near the side review mirrors. They only play high frequences
