Such a nice wagon. There will never be any more AMCs. Shame to have this happen and then watch her go. Hope Purpleblue finds her enthusiam again. Good luck to both the wag and Ann. ;)

Such a shame, she was so excited about the project and its a cool wagon.

Those glass fuel filters are just timebombs waiting to happen. I had one in an old Datsun do the same thing. Mine was a factory water separator... I try to warn people whenever I see them in an engine compartment these days.

You raise a good point - water separators. What is out there to do that job? A lot of humidity changes in the same day, lately, and most gas stations don't get a humidity adjusted fuel load for the current week or 2 week delivery. Especially with ethanol fuel mixtures.

I'm sad to see this. Ann didn't have a lot of money for this car but was full of enthusiasm and was working on it every day until the engine fire. That hurt her chances but she tried to fix it anyway. I guess it was just too much for her financially to continue. I know she wanted to but reality bites. I feel very, very bad for Ann.

You should go look at it. I'm not a big AMC fan but, it is a wagon, and it looks really cool. Too, many projects at my house, hubby 2, son 1, daughter1, me 1 or I'd go check it out.

AMC adapters for GM and Mopar trannies were really popular in the day. You might check out some AMC sites for particulars.

I posted a few links here, and I vaguely recall something about the tranny bellhousing adapters in one of them:

That is a shame, it really is. I, too, remember how excited she was when she got it.
I must say, I don't remember it being a flower car, though. I wonder if the interior's been modified. Growing up, I always thought the big Cadillac flower cars were so cool; they were like a Caddy pick up.

I talked to her last night. She really does need to sell it. I did look at some websites, big money for adapters. I am way off the reservation with an AMC. I know just enough to be dangerous. It has a 1000 bid on it right now. Getting an engine harness will be a challenge. No one makes them and the "universal" from painless is really geared for GM.

The last Ranchero roundup chariot. Don't see those much today, not even new ones.
