Minimum post count

From another forum:

While I realize that some members may disappear for a year and then come back and post a couple of times and then go away again, I think that this is an idea to be considered.

Good idea, or not?

 

Touph one, good both ways....it would clean up alot of the "one Post Wonders"

Maybe a longer perioud than 3 months though, 6 maybe?

 

What would you only post once?

 

The site has had ALOT of "Hi new member, I have a wagon" and thats it, no pics, no nothing ever again.

In all fairness, some one post wonders do post a pic but thats it and there never heard from again even after warm welcomes.

There has been sevearl "Hi, New member, 4 Sale".....and they are never heard from again.

Rite here on my island......was a basket case 63 Fairlane for sale. a time later a new member from my island joins, no real intro but looking for 63 Fairlane parts. I answer, say hello and give him a link.......In a blink of an eye the for sale add is gone and has the guy with the 63 ever posted again...no.

Yup, but the Boss does'nt get $5 for every one that comes over to the show.

 

Probably a good way to help Stef maintain his databases and save Server space, but then some of these wam-bammers mention our site and we get a real member?

I just look at the quality if the first intro and posts and go from there. There's lots of great folks with wagonitis and a funny bone without the odd drive-by seagull taking up much time.

SWSWSW = Some Will. Some Won't. So what? Old sales course training. Say it calmly, then once outside, yell NEXT!

What about the ones we've scared off? Like ChrisBaley (three seat wagon to haul the grandkids.) Do they have to go too? Or can we give them a break, and hope they come back?

 

It's just one idea from another board. Stefan (wagonmaster) makes the final call. If he takes all our comments into consideration, he may or may not do it. He's pretty reasonable.

Think of it like this. You drive up to a national park sign that says "It's your Park, Enjoy. Then you get to the gate, and the fees look like a long distance bill! Then you get past the gate, and you see the 50 rules to enjoy your park. And then you hook up the motorhome for hydro and water and there's a 20 page 'laws and conditions' finished with 'Enjoy Your Stay' signed by the State Treasurer!

Stefan's not like that, fortunately. Are you Stef?

 

im from a different mind set on this....another board that i moderate on....has it set that if you dont post within 90 days....your gone!

I don't know if it could be done, but....I would like to see the site set up so that a newbie would be DIRECTED to the intro section for his/her first post. Make it impossible to post the first post anywhere except in the intro section. That way most of us would see it and know the person is new and be able to see if he is just a seller or a ligit wagon guy. Sort of a screening process but a polite one.
