So, I lookaed at this car the other day. The price is probably right. It has no title, but the guy who owns it own a shop, so he can do a mechanics lein. NO big deal, just takes time. I am puttin gthe link up because this car is pretty unique IMO. It is a bare bones stripper wagon. the only options are the 267, and the automatic. What really set this car apart is teh fact it has a factory radio delete. I didnt even think that was possible. But this car has it.

It was a fleet car of some kind. under the pale brown/cream paint the yellow shows everywhere. thw vinyl seat arent too bad, but they are really mildewed. The car has some small rust holes in the roof at the back right abut 3 inches forward of the corner. that has destroyed the back headliner section. The board is beyond saving. the roof rust is teh primary reason I am staying away.

so here it is, if you are a bit brave I thikn it is a great opportunity for a unique wagon. I will try to post the pics I took.

It looks sad, old and forgoton. But it has that diamond in the fuff about it. I'm sure alot of the seasoned vets will remember (It's 1980 again) a 30 year old wagon all complete yet forgot/negleted is sitting in a farm. Well it's 2010 and there are no fins, no chrome, on a 30 year old wagon in a farm.......

But just how few more short years will pass and we'll NEVER see this again. There getting scarce, I'd hate it's fate i it was drivable when cash for clunkers was in

If I could have all the money I've spent on cars.....I'd spend it on cars!!

    Hey!....that's MY line.:rofl2:

The price is right on this wagon, but, for me, I don't like cars that sat for 10 years. Especially if they sat on dirt or grass or gravel.

Check all the usual stuff.....check what engine it has. Says it has to be towed....why? Engine seized? Was it a runner when parked? The way it's sitting it will be difficult but you really need to check the underside carefully for rust. As you go over the car, check off in your head the expenses you will have in bringing it back to the road and to get it where you want it. Could be a deal. Could be a money pit.

Sitting for any time in these A/G body cars is not a good thing. Check the frame rails from infront of the rear tires to the rear bumper and the rear body mounts. Up here in the Rust Belt, to find one without rotted or cracked frame rails or rotted/missing body mounts is VERY rare. I love these cars, but could never get over why they decided to go with non moving rear door windows with vent wings, CRAZY!

Yes, Blackie....the rear windows are one thing I really don't like about these cars.

I've seen lots of cars on the ground here. Unless it came from the north, or down on the coast I'm not that worried about the frame. We don't seem to have that issue very much. Now fenders, quarter panels, and people losing titles that's Texas Problems.:slap:

I wondered about that with a Texas car sitting. Probably not much moisture in the ground. In many parts of the country...sitting a long time on the ground is ruination for a car. Maybe more heat problems inside the car than underneath. Still...I would check the underside thoroughly.

Yeah, not much moisture around here. It rained ALL last week, but there are already cracks in the ground. There is always baked paint, and cracked dashes. Thanks for the advice.:)

the car is eally solid. there didnt seem to be any rust in the rockers or on the door bottoms. I didnt get really far into it because the wasps drove me off. I would worry most about the metal floor in the back from the roof leak. the car is has the small chevy v8 (267). I wouldnt worry about the frame.

I believe that got corrected for the '82 (maybe '81) model year. Those had rear roll-down windows.

You think like I do fat Tedy....... With history on your mind first. (y) I was thinking the same, exact thing to myself before I read your post..... Hard to believe that 1980 was 30 years ago. I think about that a lot. I know a lot of folks wouldn't feel the same way I do, but I really like the 80's cars more now than ever. I also loved the decade of the 80's more than any other I lived through. It was a fun, care free time.
    (I was born in 1957)

The war in Vietnam was becoming of a more distant memory.....Disco was dead....The Mustang was getting faster and faster as the years progressed. I was making money in my sleep.....It was just a great time for me. And I told my wife about a year ago that I wanted to start an 80's only car club. You had to own a 1980 to 1989 car to belong to the club. And we'd have our 80's car cruise somewhere.....And I'd make it FUN! Not like the boring, stick in the mud crud I see around here where the people just sit on a lawn chair and get fatter and fatter doing nothing but eating. NO! I'd make it fun by DOING things....getting the crowd involved with all kinds of 80's trivia games and so on. Great 80's music too. And another reason I want to do this because I know that there are a lot of car enthusists out there that simply can't afford a '57 Chevy, or a '58 Skyliner, or a '70 Cuda. But still want to be involved in the classic car scene without looking, or feeling like a sideshow clown. and like it or not, the 1980's cars are indeed classics now. Know what I mean? Anyway, I just wanted to get that off my chest.

    Carry on.
