Is it just me, or is this wagon overpriced?

I agree about the low-feedback bidders, but on the other hand, these may be people who aren't frequent users of ebay but just signed up for an account because they needed a car.

Thirty-nine bids is a lot but not excessive considering what's up for sale here and how long the auction has run. Who's to say what the right number of bids is. A lot of bidding means a lot of interest, and that's what a seller wants.

You are EXACTLY right about ebay's policies on feedback. They've become so protective of buyers relative to sellers, especially the idiotic idea that sellers can leave only positive feedback about buyers. What's the point of the feedback idea then? Might as well get rid of it.

I've given my answer to the OP. I've seen certain people instigate arguments in this forum which is a real rarity. Every forum has those types but we have been lucky here....we only have a couple. I'm done with this thread.

Like yourself, for instance? Can't stand the thought that someone might disagree with you? :D

it's interesting that noone has expressed the possiblity that Country Squires, especially nice examples in exceptional condition as this one, are experiencing an increase in value. We've all said that wagons have long been overlooked as collectibles in the sense that they were the workhorses of the American car world and, as such, were often beaten to death and gotten rid of. That, imo, makes them all the more rare, which, of course, would increase the value of them assuming demand is there, which it seems to be. It is possible, ladies and gentleman, that our wagons are appreciating more than we suspect. In today's volatile and lack luster economy, investors are thinking "out of the box" to make their dollars grow and, perhaps, are finding station wagons as a means to do that.
You must admit, it is a possibility.

You, sir, have hit the nail right on the head! This is the market at work. We should be praising it, not criticizing it!

Great point about the values of these wagons increasing. I guess I still have this fantasy of buying a wagon like this for $3,000 from a little 90 year old lady. :bouncy:

Let's keep an eye out for 442's report on the '78 up in Vermont. He's supposed to go check it out for another forum member today, so let's see what happens.

Don't give up thinking that way, my little old lady was 92 and I paid $500 for my 83. There still out there, it still happens...you never know(y)

The argument that "a car is worth whatever someone is willing to pay" is flawed. If I've got a 1960 Fluxmobile wagon and it's 'market value' is in the range of say $2 - 4,000, and some hayseed comes by and offers me $8,000 on the spot, does that make my wagon worth $8,000? No. it only makes it worth $8,000 to Mr. Hayseed. It's still a $2 - 4,000 vehicle.

Some of the bidders on that wagon do look awfully shaky:

Two different cars (could be the same wagon relisted dunno), but the same seller?

This guy happened to bid on a Ford and a Chevy coincidentally for sale by the same guy?

    Three feedback.

    No feedback and 7 bids?
    http://offer.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws...eName=PageBidderProfileViewBids_None_ViewLink

    One feedback and 4 bids?

Not saying they aren't legit and maybe I'm reading into this a little too much, but there are enough question marks there for me to stay away.

As for the original post. Yeah, it's overpriced. :D
