    Hello!

My name is Brad and unfortunately I do not own a wagon yet but I am pumped about trying to find one. My wife and I will be looking for a "family" car in the near future and I just hate to do the same old thing. I don't want a Tahoe, Suburban, Explorer, mini-van, yada yada yada. Soooo, I'm trying to convince my wife that an old wagon is the best route to take (I know).

My family had a wagon back in the late 70's, but I didn't think it was cool then, just a car I hated to be seen in really. Now I think they're the coolest thing ever.

I stumbled across this website just trying to dig up info on wagons. What a relief to find the "mother load." What I would like to find is a wagon with "power everything" if possible and I'm trying to stay with 1973 or older. Although, I do like the early 80's malibu's and early 90's caprice wagon's. The only definate is that the car has to have power doors, locks, seats, steering, brakes, a/c, cruise, etc.

Bottom line is I'm trying to find a cool and unique family car. The hard part will be convincing my wife that it will be just as good or better than a newer SUV.

Any suggestions on some unique pre 1973 body styles that are loaded out? I know that's pretty general but I have to start somewhere I guess.

    Thanks,
    Brad

:Welcome: to the club Brad. I'll give you my two cents worth. If the wagon is going to be the car the family depends on I'd personally look for a "newer" wagon. There's some great Buick Roadmasters from the 90's, Chevy and Oldsmobile equivalents. You will never regret having a fuel injected car vice a carberator. If you like smaller there's Magnum (not too small), Passat, Volvo and especially Subaru.

Just about anything from the mid-80's and older take a lot of attention, some things are hard to find especially the options you want. Check out the for sale section of the site, you just might find something you can't live without.

Glad to have you. Good hunting.

    :Welcome: to the club...
I have a '80 Olds Cutlass Cruiser and it's pretty well loaded with options (pw, pl, ac, tilt, cruise, stereo...). I'm definitely using it as our family wagon (hauled a load of flooring from Home Depot a month ago, picked up my daughter at college on Tuesday, etc).

I used to have a Z71 Suburban, and have to say I'm very happy with the wagon. Drove 486 miles to UNH and back, loaded up a dorm room full of stuff, and picked up a trophy on the way...

It doesn't get much better than that!!!

Welcome Brad, get your wife to nail down her objections and look for one that deals with them.

We bought our in Mexico in 1997, and my wife would shoot me if I sold it or got into an accident. I shoot me too, now that I'm upgrading it with Mustang and luxury features.

Pre 73 huh, well ive always been a big fan of the hideaway haedlamps. Look for a 1968 Caprice estate Wagon. Sharp car

A 1972 Plymouth Fury wagon has that agressive front end with yes, the hideaway haedlamp setup. Its got the wrap around bumpers that wrap around the hideaway headlamps. Love that body style.

Find any year Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser. The glass roof is kinda neat also.

thanks for the replies! I have a bunch of reading and googling to do....the hideaway headlamps sounds pretty cool. Oh, and I hear ya on the fuel injection bit. Well, I'll get back as soon as I have more questions.

You're in prime wagon-locating territory there, wagonless. Lots of stuff in the Dallas - Ft. Worth area. Keep looking. You'll find something you like.

:Welcome: Krash Kadillak is right, there are all kinds of great deals in the Dallas craigslist. It might take a little while but, you can find something that makes you smile every time you look at it. I did. I had been looking for a 72 Chevelle wagon for a long time, I check craigslist several time a day. And one day there she is, not 50 miles away in Garland.:yahoo: Just have a little patience you'll find it. Also don't forget about the swap meets, the one in Ft.Worth @ La Grave, Traders Village is coming up, and there's one in Canton every couple months. Good luck.:chirp:
