Didnt even think it had a option for hide aways. I have noticed most TX vehicles look like that. The sun just eats them up. I will be looking into this when I get home. Ill keep everyone posted if I get a chance to see it.

Yeah - you could order hidaway headlamps on '68 Caprices, but very few people did. They are very rare......
Here's one, but you'll probably have to get a magnifying glass to see the doors....

I have a thing for hideaways. Dad Cougar did that to me. Greew up looking at that thing, so now its a major bonus in the styling cue dept. That one of my major complaints against the C6 corvette. cant stand the headlights, and they arent hidden.

If its a hidden headlight car maybe Ill snap it up now I know its uncommon.

The Caprice was essentuially the Impala with more options. The hideaway headlamps was an extra. If you wanted them you had to pay extra for them. The caprice and the Camero were the only cars in the Chevy lineup that offered them aside from the Corvette but the hideaways were standard on the Vette, no extra charge. They are a rare option for the Caprice. To me hideaways on any car gives the front end a more aggressive sleek look no matter what the car is or how beat on it might be elsewhere. On the Caprice theres an air tank that fills with air when the headlight lever gets pulled. The compressed air was drawn by vacumm thus opening the grill doors. I love hidden headlamps. The Caprice hideaways were only aviable on the 1968-1969 models. I prefer the 68 Caprice myself. Not such a bulky body on them or the Impalas.

The Caprice wagon which is also rebadged as The Kingswood Estate Wagon does have the hideaways. I think they were an option on it also

I'd sure love to get a set for my '68 ... I've been told they only exported 4 '68 wagons to Australia.
Thought you'd enjoy watching this

There is a 68 chevy wagon in Gainsville, for $1700 on the Dallas Craigslist. Maybe I'm just gettin old, but is this the same car? I know I've seen it several times. :banghead3::chirp:

Not sure if that's the same one as the original listing I posted. I seem to remember one in slightly better condition, but I dunno......

I was posting in response to 1972behemoth's post about another one for sale in TX. He didn't post a link.
