    Okay, the /6 stays!

From the moment i saw the car had a slant-sicks & the 3 on the tree I liked it just as it was, but not so much for it being a possible "rarity" ( I hate the word "rare") which it might or might not be, but that it was a way different drive train than most you see.

Well, René (my wife) and I went to the car show/swap meet today with the dog. She was the main influence in my thinking of going with the bigger engine and an automatic because she's only 4' 8.5" tall and she can't drive a manual. We had a long talk about what to do with the wagon and how we really have an opportunity to do this car right. Well she did agree with me (and she was a bit swayed after reading this thread) and, I guess we'll just have to get her her own Mopar down the road!!! I LOVE this gal! (y)

We got a LOT of Ideas there at the swap meet! Also, Did I just not notice them before or were there always that many wagon at the meets?!! I think they're on to us! I took pictures of every wagon there, I counted 12! I just looked at the pics and I think I had the camera set for incandescent light because they're all a blue hue.:banghead3:

WOW on the Webers!!! I bet that cost a bunch! I have been looking and reading articles by Doug Dutra, which I'm finding on the Slant Six Forum and there are some pretty interesting things one could do to hop-up this 225, besides, why not dare to be different. I ain't quite right anyways from what they been tellin me...

So just forget I ever said anything about a V8 in this "Shaggin Wagon", I'm staying right where it's at; with the "Buzzin Half-Dozen"!!!

I'm so happy now- I think I'll go take a nap!!!

    See you soon!

Yup, Them "Down Under Dudes" been doin' fantastic tricks with the leanin' tower forever! That's where I obtained my cast aluminum manifold 25 years ago for the 3 webbers and learned 'bout the 265 Hemi 6 in ah row with the same webber set up! Rennie, Make friends with Dr Dodge on that site if you can. He'z ah wizzered. Had his own CAST IRON split exhaust manifold Manufactured 30 years ago, "DUTRA DUALS". He also re-popped the aluminum 4 bbl Hyperpak intake. The intake Foxflyer40 graciously just posted the pic of with the Huffer mounted. Doug dumped all that stuff and the rights to all of it to Clifford out on the left coast several years back, I understand. Want more convincing? I get 8MPG with the cross rammed 440 in the Batwagon! Absolutely Nothin' you can do to the "Leanin' Tower" would be that bad! Time tah go walk the freeway fur them beer canz:cheers:

Yes, I will keep the /6, and I want it to be something different when the hood is opened, of course, but there are many options. I've seen turbo'd, supercharged, EFI'd, side-draft'd, 4-bbl'd, 2-bbl'd and all the rest. I know that "there is no substitution for cubic inches", I also know that "Speed is Money, How Fast ya Wanna Go?".

With those last two thoughts in mind, I have a dilemma... 225 Cubic Inches has it's limitations in a B-Body Wagon. Yes, yes, I know you're finding that hard to believe but we have to face it now. And I don't have and endless supply of money as hard as that is to swallow too.

Having accepted these as facts, I have ONE CHANCE to do this right (of course until the next chance). I Really like the side-draft Webers but, OUCH, $1600 just for the set up is, while within reach, somewhat painful. I also like the Hyper-Pak 4-bbl intake that Clifford Performance offers., much less expensive, but still it's nice eye-candy.

I have also seen, but have no input on, the Dual Weber 36MM 2-bbl carbs on the Offy Intake. I see it new on eBay (#360123558908) for $650. It falls into an easier price range and has plenty of that "looky-looky" thing going for it but does anyone know or have experience with with this setup? And although I am very well versed mechanically, I have this lurking notion in the back of my mind that Webers might be a real bear to get/keep tuned. I have a picture in my faulty memory of multiple glass tubes, liquid and lot's of hoses connected to multiple carbs in a somewhat frightening adventure in "balancing" the carbs or something like that. We haven't even begun to discuss the cam, headers or exhaust tube diameter. This ain't the well know (to me) B-block Mopar or small block GM motor I'm dealing with here.

And I guess I really would like the best bang for the buck input from those with some experience. Okay, I'll come right out and say it; I'm looking for some help here, some direction.

Welcome Renko; nice long roof and quite a find. This is the second really nice Mopar wagon in a week or so. Great to see them going to good homes.

    geez...where to start?;)

k...first off....dont go haywire with fuel uinless your gonna do some nifty stuff to the motor....its waaay to easy to over carb the T.O.P.;)

its as easy as finding a factory "Super6pack"...then the dilema is the header...I think theres only 1 outfit that makes one now..(tho..Hedman does a 6 truck header)(easily modified)(y)

as for motor swap...Im with you Rennie...keep it!!
    ...I'm a 'Six Addict' too(y)(t/m);)

    6 cylinder anchor

First off, beautiful rig you have there.:Welcome: Secondly, I think you are wise by going with a BB. It will be much cheaper in the long run when it comes to power/torque if you plan to USE your wagon. I have a predominantly stock 440 w/ cam in my Fury and it will out tow my 1500 Hemi P/U. Absolutely right, no replacement for displacement! Then again, I've been accused of being a caveman/viking in the past!!!

Rennie, you might like to look at Mike Holler's series of articles on dropping a Turbo on that Slant Six. I've been yearning for a complete I4 Turbo from a 1986 to 1989 Mustang, but this set of articles has me wondering if I can do it to my solid 200 CID six. The WHOLE index of this guy's articles on the ALLPAR site is worth reading. Porting Heads and Intakes, Pistons, Interiors... Good stuff.

Oh and this article about generation gaps and performance beasts. I like bettywagon's "There's no replacement for displacement", but this guy makes some thoughtful arguments. Like finding replacement engines...

That wagon looks great just the way it is whether you stick with the slant six or drop in a big block. But, I've alway wondered how one like yours would look with two sets of 70 Road Runner dust trail stripes going down the side. It would take two sets to make it all the way back along the rear quarters to the tail lights. And add a 70 Road Runner hood, and Road Runner bird decal to the tailgate to complete the look. I know I've seen 70 wagons made into Road Runner and GTX clones by adding the side scoop to the rear door, but had the factory made a wagon Road Runner they would have never gone to that expense and effort. Heres pics of a 70 Sport Satellite wagon with a Road Runner hood that was at last years Spring Fling Mopar show in California (see post #6 in the linked thread). http://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7073
Meanwhile, the 70 Ranchero Squire sounds pretty cool too.

Thanks to everyone and their input. Now I know that NOTHING is changing on this, pretty much, base-line Belvedere!

I entered it at a local Mopar car club show today and I won First in Class (Survivor/Unrestored). I got a chance to talk with many Mopar enthusiasts. Many thought it curious that a wagon with manual transmission and both manual brakes and steering would have the Air Conditioner package as well. I'm not much on 'Numbers' but I got the build sheet and that's how she was built.

I've been driving it daily and it has not given me any problems!!! I am having surgery on my left thumb this next Thursday and will not have a thumb available for use for a month or more so I won't be driving or wrenching on it too much and it bums me out! At least I can drive the Ranchero for that period.

Last week at work one day I taped my left thumb down to get an idea what to expect. Put it this way; I won't be buttoning any shirts!!! I'll keep everyone posted!!!!
