Hello! My first 1955-57 Chevy cars were wagons, before anyone cared about them...Still interestedalways looking for the rarer parts for, and models of them, and seriously looking for any 1956-57 Chev 9-passenger wagon stuff (since I am always watching for the next one to work on, and they are always missing these seat parts!)... Also like the 1949-54 Chevy and Pont. wagons, and have reproduced some parts no one else is doing, for the interior. ~1960-63 falcon wagons a lot, too and recently found the rarest Comet a ~1962 Villager "woodie" (like the falcon Squire). A MT "field find" - So had to work a deal on that (might never see another!). ~Am looking for a 1957 Pontiac transcontinental to restore...no hurry there, though. I know where there are sevasrl that are not good candidates, but missed a great, complete one last year - so they are still out there, passing on the rust buckets! That's it - unlike some I am not going to give a "bio"...this is about wagons, right? Thanks.
There's a few Pontiac owners here. I personally have never heard of a transcontinental but hey I always thought Pluto was a planet. So, there's lots I don't know.
Back in January there was a fellow here who was trying to sell one. A complete car but needing restoration. I think he'd owned it for a very long time but realized he was never going to actually get to doing it. They are out there but you are right, finding one worth investing time and money in to is a not going to be easy. Glad you found the forums.
1957 Pontiac transcontinental, 1960s Mercury Villager... Hello- well, yes - they do exist. Funny thing is, I always think I can find any rare car with enough looking...(and good luck, in some instances). But had never even been able to find a PHOTO of one of the 1962-63 Villagers. Really did not THINK they existed, but I had Metrcury data from back then that DID reference them. (Same with the Merc. Meteor "woodie", available only 1 or 2 of the years that they did US Meteors, which wa sonly what, 4-5 years total??). Try finding a picture of one, except an orig., magazine ad on ebay, maybe. I like Falcons, think the 1960-63 Falcon Squires are really cool - but they are not "rare" at all. Out here (Las Vegas) and the West Coast, there are tons. Google for a few weeks when you are ready to buy one...you'll find a few. But the Comet Villagers...I could only find one pictutre, of a 1963 someone owned, on someone's Comet info site. And the opictures from years ago. I found this one by answering a Cr-list ad in the NWest US for a "62 Merc wagon"...(and spelled just like that, too!). They sent pictures, we made a deal, but the Winter has delayed me getting it here. No transporter I talked to raeally wanted to go get it, the last few months with the snow up where it is. Car has ALL the fiberglass trim, engine/trans., eemblems, ROOF RACK, etc.. Original paint, no apparent body damage. Should be easy to restore. I am hoping. =PICTURES: The only phots I received are linked to someone's online photo hosting, which I was given access to. I went in to see if I could "save", then add them here. No luck. =Eventually. =I CAN give you some photos right now of the brochure they did specifially for the 1962 Comet Vill. wgn., which shows the other wgns. as a side note. I found them online, and I hope no one minds! It's just info.. I can't wait to get this car here, but if anything even happens to the fiberglass trim once it's restored, then...?! Not like a Falcon Squire where I could look long enough, and FIND replacements!
Good find, 1957. I've been looking all over the internet for a pic and couldn't find a single one. I hope those folks got that cat off their roof before they drove away!
TCs...we aweren't discusing them, but...? ...tick..tock...now I am just waiting for the guy with the green, BUIG project one for sale to pipe up again, "...and I have one for sale...complete, no rust..." like he does EVERY time Transcontinentals are mentioned in any forum. Never uses the calsssifieds. I was posting comments about a picture on flickr...here he is...on this forum in anotrher thread...there he appears...funny. On the Jal. Journal...he basiclly runs an AD in my posting. "...Here is one, here's the price, to anyone interested here's my phone #" kind of thing. One site removed his posts, even... Filed find car...just run ADS.
Here's one that was restored/rodded a tad by Stillwater I think are the guys. Was in an issue of Rodders Journal a while back. This one I'd kill for...............
Did anybody notice that the gas cap on that '62 Comet Villager Squire was the body color with no wood applique? That's odd; I would've thought Ford would've gone for the additional 39 cents it would've cost them and made it match the wood. I can't think of any other woodie that was set up like that.
1962 Comet I always thought so, too! Here is a picture of the one I am buying...(LR)...Orig. gas cap has been replaced, anyway. Here's the car - ALl original, complete. Pinto Hubcaps, wrong gas cap and the metal "shields" someone scewed onto the lower rear 1/4s to cover up dents are the only things I can see that are not orig. on the car. All the fake wood trim is there...and unlike with Falcon Squires, if it gets damaged...there are NO more around, so...?! But here is a picture of it (when I finally own it, I'll post more), since there are NO other pictures around (at least that I have found) to refer to!
Villager Anyone else even have another *picture* of a 1962 or 1963 Mercury Comet villager? 1964-65, I have seen several each of, but...? THANKS.
