Sure is a great looking Galaxie! I see you have a factory roof rack? Sadly, my '78 Country Squire dose not, it drives me nuts not having one.
We are considering selling the wagon. We just don't have room for another vehicle sitting around here. You've seen the pictures, they are very accurate. (I've seen some that make a car look great, when the reality is something else.) Runs well, does need a muffler or a portion of the pipe replaced. Tires are very good. Soooo, can you give me any idea what a fair price is? I can provide more pictures if desired.
Too bad you have to sell! The Old Cars Price Guide puts the value of a 1971 Ford Galaxie 500 station wagon in #4 condition (good driver but needs restoration) at $2080 and in #3 condition (car-show quality but not showroom quality) at $4680. From your photos, I would say your car is between these two in condition. It really does look good in those photos. I would say you could set an asking price of $3000 to $4000 and see what happens. As you probably know, in spite of all the enthusiasm you see for them in these forums, the market for station wagons is limited compared to other types of cars of that vintage, so you may have to advertise far and wide to generate a buyer willing to pay the price you might want.
Thank you, that's very helpful. We haven't really decided yet. Hubby has a brother with 5 kids that would probably buy it but it would be trashed in no time. That's not going to happen. We would really like to sell it to someone who loves old cars. Why do I have the feeling this is going to be a little bit like the limping stray dog that showed up?.... we had her for the rest of her life - 13 years.
nice very nice station wagon , check out my 1970 Ford LTD Country Squier, i think you"ll like her, Mac
