We'll have to build up a collection. $35 US sounds like a good start on that Mustang I want to bid on. I saw them going in previous auctions for $150.

Ok, the new Relay came Tuesday, and its the correct one! Between Daylight Savings Jetlag Pollen cranking up here, i havent been outside to install it. I hope the problem is actually the relay and not wiring leading up to the relay..... everyone hold their breath.

:hmmm: ummm i forget what exactly was the nature of the problem?
I'm not sure you mentioned it other than saying you needed a new relay.

A 1972 Lincoln Continetal! Love them! Beautiful automobiles.

That guy is wondering why his beautiful Lincoln conked out in a field...it is getting dark, and his auto-dim headlamps are on the fritz!
Poor guy. Hope the tractor doesn't run over him.:rofl2:Maybe he should "relay" for some help! :biglaugh:

wixom has it. the headlights flash on and off. ive replaced the auto-dim relay and its still doing it. some of the wires going to the relay are getting warm. i will look and see where they go. I had the switch rebuilt already. now new relay. Next im going to clean all the connectors at the headlights, and replace my battery cables, as i may have a grounding issue there. After that the only thing left is the dimmer button itself.

    Norm posted this link: http://www.lincolnsonline.com/forum/index.php

Even though Norm hates cats, I will agree with him that this would be a good place to ask for help with this problem. It is probably pretty common with these cars.

    David :)

already a member there, and they only do 80's and up. mostly the newer really troublesome lincolns. Im thinking its something to do with the headlight wiring across the front of the vehicle since they had the headlights out to paint it, and i have two other lights not working, but im not that great of a trouble shooter yet, so just looking for ideas.

I know its not a wagon, but i have two wagons, ones a ford and ones a chevy, but its the lankun thats being a pain in the ass right now

Son of a gun! I went searching for '1972 Lincoln headlight problem' on bing.com, and got this link to wiring diagrams, in South Africa!!!

And Aussie Falcons, some of which are just like our old '60s Falcons!

    http://www.moby302.co.za/wiring/diagrams.html

Its like a Links page to nothing but wiring diagrams for almost every make!

ill try those, and see what i can find. I was playing with it last night, and its not a current issue. its either a timing or a heat issue. after the lights are on about 10 mins it starts its crap. thats with the car running or off. When i open the door and click the dimmer, it stops for a few mins then starts again after the door is shut about 4 mins. Not sure if something is cooling down enough, or what. Im thinking about bypassing the actually dimmer switch to see if i can rull that out.

and i guess im going to change searches, i dont get near the good stuff you do from yahoo or google.

Search engines! You need good tools for each job, and here's a 99-piece wrench set of search tools, FREE! :rofl2:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_search_engines

    http://www.lib.berkeley.edu/TeachingLib/Guides/Internet/SearchEngines.html

Where do you think all those cop shows get them from? :rofl2:

For general stuff though I like BING.COM. The darn thing seems to 'get' my wierd search terms. Jay Leno had a piece on searching the internet one night with common language in uncommon search phrases (like we usually think  :rofl2:) and I tried it on the others. Bing got me results that the others didn't even come close to.
