Greetings from a long time wagon fan. I have been an old car nut for quite some time and have had a few wagons along the way (most of which I wish I had back). Presently I have 4 old cars most recent of which is a 52 Desoto wagon. It like most of my other cars needing some work but it is close to being road-able. I hope to be driving it somewhere beyond my driveway this summer. Alway great to see and hear from other like minded people. Mark...
Welcome Mark! I think that I saw your car's photo in the intro page. I was just thinking about what a great old wagon that is!
to the wagon train from another Wisconsinite, Mark! How about showing us some pix of that wagon? We love pix.
Hey Wisc. I loaded a couple of pics into the Garage space. Since this is my 2nd post i am not sure how to load them into my reply ... but I will give it shot .
You did GOOD! I wish you knew how much I LOVE that wagon! That is an absolute beauty. You are a very lucky guy! I've always wanted one of those. I like the old Mopar wagons....yours is a favorite of mine.
Very nice. Love seeing the old Mopar wagons here. Yours kind of reminds me of this 54 DeSoto wagon thats been on Craigslist for a while in Colorado. http://denver.craigslist.org/cto/1587862795.html 1954 DESOTO S-20 "POWERMASTER" ****STATION WAGON**** VERY RARE*****(ONLY 225 MADE)****** Powerflite 2 Speed Transmission; Power Steering and Newly Rebuilt "Power Brakes" Rebuilt Original Engine; NOS windshield FIRESTONE 8.20-15" Wide White Wall Tires "ORIGINAL" PAINT with AWESOME PATINA AMAZING ROCK SOLID BODY; Drives and Stops Excellent!! Yiles ...it looks ALOT like my wagon ... the front end is a bit different and I think the powermaster is a 6 cylinder model. I bought mine in Eau Claire Wi. last summer. The story behind it is that this guy started a body off restoration on it. Cleaned the frame, rebuilt the Hemi, the trans and the brakes, put the body back on without redoing the underside (its solid but there is lots of flaking paint under there) ... then then repainted the back half and lost interest. The next guy bought it, put the front end on it, painted it and was about to rewire it when he passed away ... it has been sitting for awhile ... then I bought it from his nephew, put a new carb on it ... hot wired it and it started right up ... I dropped the gas tank ... had it cleaned and sealed then put it and the car away for the winter ... how much of the story is true is anyones guess but the engine is clean, had new plugs in it, and started right up (when I got some gas to it), the trans and power brake setup look to be refurbishedand as does the power steering system, the underside is dusty but not full of oil and road sand so there may be something to it. I will keep the forum posted as to what I find when I get back to it. Thanks for the interest ... MSR
Neat car. Looks to be in very nice original condition. That will really turn heads when you head out on the highway. What a lot of fun you are going to have with that puppy. Welcome to the forum.
