This is a little Off Topic: (OT), but since we all understand the pains of restoring and keeping our ride up and running. We know, all to well, how we feel to see a classic car of any style suffer from neglect. Well this 'barn find' breaks my heart, even more so being a Chevy guy my whole life. "Get your tissues out Tito" .

My FREE 87 Caprice wagon sat for 5 yrs in a farm field. I changed oil, added gas, air in the tires and a battery and drove it 60 miles home.
Oh yea! I cleaned out a dozen wasp nests, mouse nests and a couple of snake skins.
    They are still out there!

I hope this Chevelle gets the restoration it deserves! Quite a mountain to climb though. Somebody call one of those shows like wrecks to Riches or Overhaulin'.

OMG, what a shame. I guess this guy has no idea what he has or maybe he does and that's why he won't let it go. $600, can you imagine?! I'd like to think that someday he'll get his act together and bring this prime example of muscle cardom back to the condition it deserves. He probably never will so our only hope is that one of his grandsons finds it.

This doesn't break my heart, because it still exists.
It is still restorable, and hopefully will be some day. It is inside out of the weather, and still owned by someone with a dream for it. And it is valuable enough to be restored by someone if the car's present owner never gets around to it.
That Chevelle's gonna be just fine. (y)

I'm thinking all restored, it's gotta be worth upwards of $30,000. The '70 SS's are the most popular and draw the most dollars.

The car is toast, the rear frame rails are rotted out, atleast on the driver side wheel well area. The hood will likely be shot, sitting on that wet moldy floor, the rear corners will be full of cancer. Sure it can be saved, but its only a 396 car, not a LS6 454, where the real money is. IMO its junk and a damn shame the Redman chewin hick would let it rot away like that in a soaking wet shack, uncovered with no aircleaner on the motor. Imagine all the rust inside the heads and cylinders. Will make a damn nice Prius once it is someday crushed and sent to China in little chunks, to be refined into 2nd grade steel. WHAT A DUMBASS!

Why would it have Olds mags on it? Didn't the SS come standard with Chevy mags? I could be wrong there, but I can't recall ever seeing this era SS with wheel covers.

Never seen a Olds wheel like the one that Chevy used. Probably just found that cap to replace a missing one?

I bet he stored it so he could restore it someday.:banghead3: Why is it that every single barn find classic car is missing the air cleaner for gawd sakes. What's up with that?

I wish I could believe that he would get around to it someday, but I don't. I think he'll hold on to it till it falls into the ground in a pile and then decide he doesn't have time for it. It will be on e-bay for some ridiculous price and he'll wonder why it doesn't sell.

Olds did offer a mag wheel like that in addition to the rallye type. Here's a '71 with them.

No, try at least double that depending on the quality of the restoration!

A 100 point restoration maybe triple that depending on where it's sold!

Yikes. I knew they were worth strong dollars, but holy cow!! And this guy's just letting it rot in his lean to. It's my understanding the '69's and older and the '71's and newer don't draw like the '70.
