No Reserve: 1991 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser for sale on BaT Auctions - ending July 16 (Lot #113,622) | Bring a Trailer
Strangely enough, if it was a Chevy it probably would have been 25-30% higher. I don't think the Buick version would necessarily command more but for some reason everyone likes Chevies. I think it was well bought too and I'd totally love to drive it for that price if I was in the market.
The reason that the Buicks and Chevys bring more money is because they were available from 1994 through the end of the run in 1996 where you could get the LT 1. I used to own an almost carbon copy of this car. I had a 91 Oldsmobile in this color with the 305 engine. The car rode beautifully, but was very sluggish. I thought about converting it to an LT 1, and then figured it would just be cheaper to sell that car and buy an LT 1 wagon. I struggled to get $8000 for mine and it was every bit as nice as this one. I then bought a 95 Buick with the LT1 and I enjoy it so much it is one of my most driven in my collection. I notice the value on these and watch them closely…I feel the value is in the LT1 engine and the Buicks bring some big money because they were the most luxurious of the group.
I’m surprised the Olds brings in less. Especially with the rarity factor. And IMO the Olds is the best looking of the three.
For what it is worth, the Olds 305 in our 87 Safari is rated at a whopping 140 hp and performs accordingly. If it had the 170 horses this 91 Olds is suppose to have, I would be overjoyed.
I agree…that’s why I originally bought the light blue 91 Olds. It’s also the only one I’ve seen with a factory tach. I did consider that maybe the sluggishness could have been that particular car as I also have a light blue 91 Cadillac Brougham powered by a TBI 305 that has plenty of power and drivability. I also seem to have developed an affinity for LT1 cars…I’m up to 4 now…
