Weren't the '73s the heaviest on record? Jaunty once posted on which one was.
What's not mentioned in the ad is the re-paint, betrayed by the overspray on the door catch:

Eh, I wouldn't necessarily say it's been repainted. Door strikers were known to not be universally painted vs. not from year to year and factory to factory. It has all of the factory-style pin stripes that I'm not sure could easily be duplicated if the entire car had been repainted.

It just seems odd that they would mount the vent and body plug after painting and not screw in the strikers along with them

This car has been on craigslist for a few months now at least. It keeps getting re-listed. It is a nice car.

It was not the heaviest, but the second generation Toros were all very close in weight at around 4800 lbs with the exception of the first two years, which were closer to 4600. The first gen cars ('66 to '70) clocked in at about 4500 lbs.

    1971 Toronado weighed 4577
    1972: 4672
    1973: 4794
    1974: 4838
    1975: 4831
    1976: 4783
    1977: 4805
    1978: 4833

I absolutely agree, but some years and some plants the factory installed the door striker and latch assemblies before painting and some years they did it after paint. It all depended on what Fisher Body was doing for that particular time and place.
