I'm not a Ford guy, but does "Squire" just mean it has woodgrain on it?

Yup - if it had 'Squire' in the name, it had exterior 'wood'. There were no 'Squires' without the wood.

Yep, there were even Escort and Fairmont Squires - and even a Granada Squire for one year. Just like Ford did the Eddie Bauer later on multiple vehicles.

Wasn't there even a Pinto Squire as well?

I am just happy they didn't do a Mustang or Capri Squire!

Yes the Pinto Squire ran from 1972-1980. It was a cute car. I had an ‘80 in baby blue, with the plaid interior. Good little car.

    LOL....
Ford made a BIG deal about it in their 1982 wagon brochure - "The FIRST Granada WAGON!!"

.........and LAST Granada wagon. The entire Granada line was restyled and renamed for 1983, becoming the new smaller-sized LTD.

And don't forget the Mercury counterpart, the Cougar, which became the Marquis in '83!

    Hey, I made a rhyme!

    You're a poet, and didn't know it!
Oh man, this is contagious. Ya know, I kinda like the looks of the Grenade front end on the Fairmont wagons. I think they look good - even better than the slope-nose 83-86 LTD.

The car in the brochure page looks good with those wheels, etc.
