I am a new owner to a 1991 Mercury Grand Marquis, Colony Park, LS, station wagon. All of these badges are on the car. It also has Ford running board inside the door opening, where the threshold is. I am having a difficult time getting the right parts for my car because up until a few minutes ago, I didn’t know what to call my car. The Grand Marquis brand and Colony Park show up as different brands in all the parts books I’ve looked up the last few days. The VIN is: 2MECM79F9MX623057

Okay, first, this would not be the section to post this. Hopefully, a mod will cure this. Second, there is a problem with the Grand Marquis vs. Colony Park names. So, essentially, everything from the front end to the back doors should be sourced under "Grand Marquis," and the back end of the wagon under "Colony Park."
The chassis series is called "Panther" by Ford, whether a sedan or wagon, a Crown Vic, Grand Marq or a Town Car.

BTW. All of the sill plates on Fords and Mercury by this time had the blue Ford oval. Gosh probably since the mid to early ‘60’s they’ve used Ford as the universal name on the sill plate. Even on Lincoln. I have a 1960 Mercury. It says Mercury. I would bet while MEL was still in the mix that was probably the case. Once the Whiz Kid poured everything into one pot, 1961 or so, I bet by the redesign of ‘63 all the sill plates were Ford. As you scrounge for parts, you’re pretty safe just saying 1991 Colony Park. If the order guy can’t get it from there, hang up and call back.

Oh, one thing on your wagon, the dash and steering column is the newer design that appeared in '90 with all three Panthers, as the Town Car was the first 'aero Panther' to come out, otherwise, they're mostly like the older Panthers.

Depending on what you are looking for the part will be the same between the CP and the GM. At least you aren't like me and left wondering if the part catalog is referring to an actual LTD or an LTD Crown Victoria which are two completely different cars. Thanks Ford.

Truthfully, it's not generally Ford's fault; if we can differentiate between two models, any parts house should also be able to do the same thing.
