My grandson's truck seems to have a head gasket leak. Coolant is disappearing slowly, not in the oil, no visible leaks. I'm thinking it's leaking into a cylinder and going out from there. Has anyone had any luck with head gasket stop leak, and if so, what brand do you prefer? Pulling the heads and replacing the head gasket is NOT an option at this point. 93 Ford F150, 302/5.0 FI. Any and all input welcome.
This is Roadkill tested and approved. It has given amazing results on some real junk on the show. https://www.amazon.com/K-Seal-ST350...ocphy=9017525&hvtargid=pla-519502900247&psc=1
Frankly, just doing the head gaskets is a fairly simple job on these trucks (even if you're stupid like me and leave the stuffed paper towels in the lower intake passages when you finish assembly), and if there is a physical problem with the cylinder head, you'll want to grab a replacement. Really, it is a very simple job.
1st Pressure test the cooling system and check for external leaks. You can rent a cooling system pressure tester at your local Autozone and get a full refund when you return it. If it doesn't show any external leaks then get a block test kit and the test fluid. This will show if you a head gasket leaking. This will save you from just throwing parts at it which may or may not fix it. Small block Fords are not known for head gasket problems. I personally do not recommend using stop leaks or head gasket repair in a bottle.
