I talk about these cars now and then, and I certainly post enough ads for these models., so I thought I'd show some photos of mine. I don't often have them near each other because I keep one at home and the other in a storage garage a short drive away. I switch them out depending on which one I want to do something to. But I did have them together the other day, so I took some photos.

The white one is the '77 I bought out of Kentucky last March. It has about 80,000 miles on it, and it had, until either I replaced them or had a local shop do it, its original rear brake hardware and original rear shock absorbers.

The red one is the '78 that I bought out of Georgia back in 2017 and that got me started on Toronados, especially the second-generation models. This one was non-running when I got it and was last started and run in 2004. It has about 86,000 miles on it when I got it, and it now has about 91,000.

    Excellent!!!

Congrats, Jaunty!!!! I hope these Olds have brought you pleasure (beyond just writing checks)!

They are worth preserving and you are to be commended! I posted the burgundy '78 on the forum when it was first up for sale years ago!

These are part of Americana automotive history (of which we will never see again) and I salute you for saving them! :thumbs2:

The custom license plates are awesome. XS of this sort will never be seen again. :bouncy:

    Thank you!

Yes, you were the one who posted the craigslist ad for the red one, and the rest is history!

If you guys have absolutely nothing else to do, and I mean really nothing else to do, and you don't mind spending 20 minutes of your life that you'll never get back, you can go for a 20-minute ride in the '77.

I recently got one of those small GoPro Hero cameras that are about half the size of a deck of cards and that people attach to the handlebars of their bicycle or to their helmet if they're skiing or rollerblading or skateboarding or whatever, and I put it on the dash. I was taking a drive last Monday (Columbus Day) from my house to the nursing home where my mother lives to pay her a visit. It was about 9 in the morning. I had no idea how well it would work, but it turned out very well. I edited it, and I put in some commentary here and there. I can't post it to youtube because it contains copyrighted material. I had the satellite radio on, and the songs that are heard are protected by copyright. But that doesn't preclude watching it for your own personal use. Just please don't try to put it up on a public platform as it will likely be rejected, anyway.

The file is about 3GB, so it could take some time to download, depending on your internet connection, etc. Don't expect academy-award quality film-making here. I was just having some fun with the GoPro and learning how to use it.

Had a little fun with the photography. I faced each car directly into the sun early in the morning, so the sun was low in the sky and the shadows fell directly behind the cars. I figured the sun would get the chrome to sparkle.

Then I put the two together in one image. Yes, I need a life.

    Very nice.
I'd say you have a life. And it's a pretty darn good one at that.
