I have to agree. I owned a 1970 Torino and a 1974 Gran Torino wagon and IMO, the 1972 is THE BEST ONE EVER!!
That front end is known in the Ranchero community as the 'Fishmouth,' and is a very popular model year for owning and restoring. One member has three(?) Squires, and is in the middle of a rotisserie resto on his second one; the third may only be for parts.
72 fishmouth is the one I really, really, don't like at all. I could go for a 73 to 75 or even a 68 or 69 Ranchero but not the fishmouth or 77-79. Similar thing goes for the big Chevy 65 to 70, only the 68 is on the "I don't like it" list, but that year seems to be the most sought after by other people, 67 being my favorite just because of the dash panel full of round guage pods.
